The third episode of Black Butler season 4 begins with McMillan quietly entering Ciel Phantomhive’s dormitory after briefly recapping the events that had occurred. He questions Ciel about his defiance towards the Prefects and discovers the real reason behind it. McMillan promises to support Ciel and persuade others to do the same.
Continuing on, in Black Butler season 4 episode 3, Soma Asman Kadar makes his way to Weston College at the behest of Ciel. He warmly greets the young master and states that he has come specifically for him. Ciel’s prediction proves correct as Soma joins the red team.
Despite the Bengal prince’s eccentricity, Ciel is annoyed by his behavior and regrets sending him the letter. Not noticing Ciel’s discomfort, Sebastian excuses himself and leaves. In the midst of the chaos, Ciel takes the opportunity to explain to Soma why he had requested his presence.
Ciel fabricates a story to the prince, claiming that he had a falling out with Maurice Cole of the Red House. Being somewhat socially isolated, Ciel struggles to reconcile with Maurice and turns to Soma for assistance. Thus, Ciel enlists Soma to closely observe Maurice and report back with any information he can gather.
Soma’s Fascination with Maurice Cole: Uncovering Intriguing Secrets
Upon eagerly agreeing to Ciel Phantomhive’s request, Soma Asman Kadar casually instructs Maurice Cole to reconcile with Ciel in episode 3 of Black Butler season 4. However, Redmond’s Drudge reminds Soma of the boy’s previous actions which brought shame upon the Prefects.
Despite being one of the Prefect’s Drudges, he strongly expresses to him that he cannot forgive him. Nevertheless, Soma refuses to give up and continues to persist with his request, constantly following Maurice around, much to the latter’s irritation.
During the evening, Soma feels a strong desire to see Ciel. He heads to the stables of the Scarlet Fox House to ride his elephant. However, his plans are foiled when the elephant causes chaos and ruins Maurice’s room.
Despite Soma receiving five penalty points from Redmond for his irrational behavior, he offers Maurice to spend the night in his dorm as a gesture of apology. Although Maurice initially declines, Redmond is intrigued by the offer from the royalty.
In season 4 episode 3 of Black Butler, the setting shifts to Soma Asman Kadar’s dorm where he discovers Maurice secretly leaving flower-shaped cards for the residents of the Red House. The following day, he confides in Ciel and Sebastian about his findings.
In addition, he alludes to another matter that remains undisclosed during the episode. Ciel and Sebastian come to the realization that they finally have leverage against Maurice. The young man with the eyepatch makes the decision to confront Redmond’s Drudge the following day to settle matters.
Exposing the Real Identity of Maurice Cole by Ciel Phantomhive
The third episode of Black Butler’s fourth season time-skips to the next day, where Ciel Phantomhive is seen confronting Maurice Cole. Ciel accuses the Prefect’s Drudge of deceiving him and the Prefects for his own gain.
Maurice claims it is a false accusation, prompting Ciel to inquire about the events involving four other students, including Joanne Harcourt. Ciel mentions that Joanne was unable to attend the Prefect’s invitation at the Swan Gazebo due to communication difficulties with Maurice, and asks for an explanation.
Ciel presents evidence to support his accusation that Maurice is neglecting his duties as a Drudge and delegating them to other students. He reveals the flower-shaped letters, which Maurice uses to send his “requests”to other students as seen in Black Butler season 4 episode 3.
Maurice, taken aback by the revelation, inquires of Ciel the source of the letters. As seen in Black Butler season 4 episode 3, the Red House’s Drudge instructed his underlings to destroy the letters after perusing them.
Despite Maurice’s shock and loss of ability to speak, Michaelis Sebastian was able to unearth the small fragments of the letters from the garbage dump and carefully restore them with meticulous precision.
At that instant, a group of boys suddenly enter and quickly take the letters from Ciel Phantomhive. Maurice chuckles and scolds him for assuming he wouldn’t be ready. The Drudge steals the letters and destroys them completely.
Despite Black Butler season 4 episode 3 showing the Prefects of the Green, Violet, and Blue Houses arriving at the scene, he continues to threaten to make life difficult for Ciel Phantomhive at school.
Maurice is amazed at the speed with which the Prefects from the Swan Gazebo arrive on the premises. Ciel reveals that he employed wire strings to reveal their conversation to the Prefects.
From the other side, Redmond calmly responds and reprimands Maurice for his actions. He also cuts all ties with him, including their brotherly bond. In the meantime, Ciel advises Maurice to lead a truthful life and confront his true self.
Edward, the servant of the Green House, expresses his remorse to Ciel Phantomhive for doubting him. The Prefects also commend Ciel for his courageous actions. The third episode of Black Butler season 4 concludes with Clayton, the servant of Lawrence Bluewer, accepting Ciel Phantomhive as his master.
