Black Clover’s Latest Chapters Suggest That De-Paladinfication Won’t Revive The Dead

From the start of Black Clover’s concluding arc, the manga has placed significant emphasis on the influence of Paladins in the narrative. This was made clear during Asta’s battle with Paladin Sister Lily in Hino Country, as the actions of Lucius forced the protagonist to confront someone he deeply cared for.

Despite the fight’s negative impact, it also sparked a glimmer of hope for fans as Sister Lily reverted back to her human form after being defeated by Asta. This led fans to speculate that the “de-Paladinfication”process could potentially bring back formerly deceased Magic Knights from the dead.

Regrettably, the latest two Black Clover chapters provide evidence that contradicts this.

Fans may recall that the Hino Country was once invaded by three Paladins – Lily Aquaria, Yrul, and Heath Graice. Among them, Lily and Yrul were originally human, but were transformed into Paladins. However, this was not the case for Heath Graice. As a former member of the Eye of the Midnight Sun, he had already passed away. Despite this, Lucius was able to resurrect him as a Paladin.

Despite not being explicitly stated in the manga, it was unclear whether or not the defeated character remained alive or returned to being dead. As a result, fans speculated that defeating the Paladins could potentially allow the revived ones to remain alive as humans. However, it appears that this theory is not accurate.

The latest installment of Black Clover, chapter 373, depicted the Silva siblings killing their mother, Paladin Acier Silva, after a grueling battle. This event suggests that defeating Paladins does not guarantee their revival. If this were possible, author Yuki Tabata could have chosen to have the Silva siblings defeat Acier instead of killing her. However, the manga shows all four siblings joining forces to completely destroy her.

Therefore, it is highly unlikely that the Magic Knights could have reversed the Paladin transformation and recruited them as allies.

The reason we are unable to verify the longevity of the revived Paladins is due to the fact that, as fans may recall, the only Paladins who have managed to survive after being defeated were those who faced Asta. Therefore, there is a slight possibility that the reason for their survival while others perished is because Asta was the sole individual capable of “de-Paladinizing”them with his Anti-Magic Swords.

Therefore, if Asta had engaged in battle with Paladin Heath Graice, Moris Libardirt, and Acier Silva, there could have been a possibility that he would have been able to “de-Paladinize”them, ultimately saving their lives. Such a turn of events would have had a significant impact on the story, potentially leading to a reunion between the Silva Siblings and their lost loved ones, Nacht Faust included.
