Black Clover’s Victory Over My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen Thanks to Mereoleona

Black Clover appears to have surpassed its rivals when it comes to significant female side characters. The Uncrowned Undefeated Lioness, Mereoleona Vermillion, effortlessly faced and conquered the most difficult obstacles in order to uphold her principles. In the absence of Fuegoleon, she led both the Crimson Lion Squad and the Royal Knights Squad.

Similarly, female characters in popular anime such as My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen face difficulties in achieving the same level of success. While characters like Star and Stripe and Yuki Tsukumo have made an impact, their screen time is often limited.

Mereoleon’s Superiority Over My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen

From her debut in Black Clover, Mereoleona Vermillion has been a brilliantly developed character who has evolved alongside the series. Initially, she exuded an aura of invincibility and lived up to her reputation by overwhelming her adversaries with raw power, exceptional magic skills, and unyielding determination.

Despite being initially portrayed as a genius in the series, she faced many challenges such as receiving her Grimoire and becoming powerful too quickly. However, through rigorous training in Grand Magic Zones and battling monstrous creatures, she strengthened her determination and ultimately triumphed against seemingly impossible odds.

Despite the typical animanga clichés, her character stands out by breaking past them and consistently proving herself as the strongest captain arc after arc. Mereoleona’s battles against Vetto, the 5 Elves, Zenon Zogratis’ Demon Spawn, and, most recently, Moris Libardirt, serve as undeniable proof of her incredible strength.

Looking ahead, the female characters in Jujutsu Kaisen may not quite measure up to Black Clover’s Mereoleona. For example, Yuki Tsukumo, a member of the four Special Grade Sorcerers, did not have as strong of an impact on the screen.

Despite being strong and having admirable beliefs, her execution was somewhat inadequate. She engages in several battles, initially rescuing her fellow students at Jujutsu High from Kenjaku and later teaming up with Choso to fight him off. She puts up a valiant effort, but ultimately falls to Kenjaku’s superior strength.

Maki Zen’in can be described as yet another example. She experiences a significant increase in power during the middle of the series and continues to grow stronger. Additionally, her full potential is unleashed after a sparring session with Rokujushi Miyo. However, despite these developments, her role in the final battle against Ryomen Sukuna falls short of expectations. In other words, her character lacks a standout moment that surpasses those of her male counterparts.

My Hero Academia’s Star and Stripe serve as the prime example. Despite the immense anticipation surrounding her and her Quirk, New Order, she was given minimal screen time and swiftly written off. Despite its limitations, New Order could have easily been deemed the most outlandish power in the series.

Additionally, Rabbit Hero: Mirko appeared significantly weakened when it was her moment to showcase her abilities. However, she still managed to make a strong impression when she infiltrated Garaki’s laboratory and battled against the Nomu.

Despite sustaining serious injuries, she remains determined and continues to fight with a smile on her face. However, it appears that characters are not given enough time in the spotlight and are held back in certain aspects.

Final thoughts

Yuki Tabata, the creator of Black Clover, has achieved great success in terms of writing and design with the character of Mereoleona Vermillion. She stands out as a formidable female character who not only endures but also grows throughout the series. In today’s anime landscape, strong female representation is crucial.

While Mereoleona is often seen as a standout character, other anime also have strong female characters. My Hero Academia and Jujutsu Kaisen, for example, have their own female characters who are just as capable, if not more so. However, there are a few characters, such as Yuki and Mirko, who could have been given more attention and recognition.
