Black Ops 6: CoD HQ Overhaul and Reduced Download Sizes

Activision announced its intentions to improve the menus, decrease download sizes, and revamp CoD HQ for Black Ops 6.

Players access a single launcher menu and select from there to enter multiplayer, Warzone, or other Call of Duty titles.

The feature was intended to simplify menu navigation, however players contended that it actually became even more perplexing.

As frustrations mounted, it became clear to players that the launcher was responsible for the larger game file sizes.

Prior to the release of B06 on Oct. 23, CoD HQ Activision took into consideration community feedback and implemented a roadmap to gradually revamp CoD HQ.

In mid-October, the highlight of everything will be the unveiling of a new user interface. CharlieIntel provided a glimpse of the new UI in action.

The update will consolidate all menus onto one landing page, eliminating the need for players to navigate through multiple vertical and horizontal menus. This will make the process much simpler and less time-consuming.

In the preview video, it is evident that players have the option to choose between Zombies, Black Ops 6, or Warzone and easily join a match. Furthermore, there will be a section at the bottom displaying the most frequently played game mode as well as other popular modes.

Activision justified this alteration by stating that it would decrease the overall file size for multiple games, facilitate quicker switching between games for players who enjoy a variety of content, establish a permanent home for Call of Duty: Warzone independent of a single yearly release, and enable the sharing of settings and social features among games.

The re-organizing process and removal of Warzone as a mandatory download will begin with the Season 5 Reloaded update on Aug. 21. This massive update serves as the starting point for all changes.

Gamers who have both Call of Duty and the Season 5.5 update installed will receive the Beta as an update to their current installation.

In order to make up for players having to bear the large download, Activision is generously giving out double XP tokens.

Our initial glimpse of the new UI will be during the beta on Aug. 30.
