Black Ops 6 Map Criticized as “Worst Ever” for Spawn Trapping, Yet Some Players Enjoy It

Players diving into the multiplayer aspect of Black Ops 6 during its opening weekend have resurfaced to voice their opinions regarding the selection of multiplayer maps. Among them, one particular map has sparked considerable debate.

Named Babylon, this map is tailor-made for 6v6 gameplay and offers a unique arena that hasn’t appeared in past Call of Duty titles. However, it does exhibit some similarities with Shipment, a beloved and frequently revisited close-quarter map that has become a signature of the Modern Warfare series.

As expected, the compact nature of these maps can lead to issues with spawn trapping, which is a primary concern players have raised about Babylon.

A highly upvoted post on the BO6 subreddit described it as “Quite possibly the worst map ever for spawn trapping,” while the thread lacked further details, many comments provided essential context.

“There’s one specific spawn point where, if you get cornered, there’s no way out for like five or six deaths in a row,” one player pointed out. “I ended up stuck there. Died four times in a row immediately after spawning. This is the worst CoD map,” another player expressed their frustration.

Babylon serves as a Core Map within Black Ops 6, specially crafted for 6v6 gameplay.

Spawn trapping occurs when one team deliberately or accidentally camps certain areas of the map, effectively restricting the opposing team to known respawn locations.

If executed properly, the trapped team is forced to respawn in areas that are left unguarded, enabling the attacking team to consistently eliminate them as they spawn, leaving little room for a counter-strategy.

Despite the criticisms, an equal number of players defended the map, with some even claiming it to be among the best in Black Ops 6.

“I’m a self-proclaimed casual CoD player and I adore Babylon! I feel a rush every time I enter a match,” one fan shared.

Others questioned the overall negativity surrounding the map, pointing out that Babylon is often favored in multiplayer matchmaking. “If it’s truly the worst map, why is it chosen in almost every vote?”

As with any Call of Duty title, maps often evoke mixed feelings among players. It will be intriguing to observe where opinions about Babylon settle once the initial excitement of Black Ops 6 begins to fade.
