As the hype around Black Ops 6 continues, an old feature from Advanced Warfare has sparked renewed interest among players. Advocates of the Call of Duty series are clamoring for a robust firing range experience reminiscent of the one introduced in the 2014 title, a feature that received favorable mentions from top-tier players in the community.
Although Advanced Warfare might not be the most celebrated game within the Call of Duty franchise, it undeniably caters to a dedicated fanbase. Many players recognize certain elements of the game that stand out, even for its critics. A notable aspect that players are advocating for is the enhancement of the firing range, leading to discussions about its evolution in subsequent games.
In the current iteration of Black Ops 6, players have access to three stationary dummies to engage with, a dynamic moving target, and a wall for practicing recoil control. However, players believe that compared to the diverse experiences offered in Advanced Warfare, recent versions lack the same level of depth.
Is the Firing Range in Black Ops 6 a Step Back?
How is the firing range from 2014 so much better than the firing range from 2024 by u/TheRealPdGaming in CoDCompetitive
On January 16, Anthony ‘Shotzzy’ Cuevas-Castro, a two-time COD world champion, took to Twitter/X to highlight the contrast between the firing ranges of Advanced Warfare and Black Ops 6, stating that “this range compared to nowadays is crazy,” including a comparative image of the firing range from Advanced Warfare.
The sentiment echoed through the community, with fellow player Daniel ‘Ghosty’ Rothe of the LA Thieves voicing his endorsement for Advanced Warfare, calling it the “Best game in CoD history.” This conversation gained traction on the CoD Competitive Reddit, where multiple fans shared their disbelief regarding the advancements—or lack thereof—in Black Ops 6’s range capabilities. One user remarked, “Sh*t, the firing range? How is the game from 2014 so much better than the game from 2024?”
Speculations emerged as to why the older game featured superior functionalities. One fan commented that it was due to the passion once held by developers, suggesting that “those devs are gone now.” Another user concurred, lamenting, “Nowadays the devs are soulless corporate suits that want to find every little way to implement micro-transactions to maximize profit.”
Since its release, Black Ops 6 has seen a decline in player engagement, with dwindling numbers and limited updates. Nonetheless, there is optimism for the upcoming Season Two, which promises significant enhancements, especially within the Zombies mode.
