Prop Hunt has officially made its debut in Black Ops 6, yet many players are expressing disappointment with its execution.
The launch of Black Ops 6 has been far from flawless. Aside from technical glitches, players are raising alarms about rampant cheating in Ranked Play. Even Activision’s attempts to address these issues have been met with skepticism, with some players labeling these efforts as mere “propaganda.”
In addition to concerns over cheating, players have voiced frustrations regarding the introduction of excessively bold skins and a so-called “pay-to-win”weapon that is overshadowing the multiplayer experience. On a brighter note, Zombies fans can look forward to Season 1 Reloaded, offering exciting new content. However, the anticipated lighthearted fun of Prop Hunt has not provided the required boost to the game, drawing its share of criticism.

An Unbalanced Experience: Hunters vs. Props
One notable critique from Reddit user _Jaffamuncher highlights the new Flash mechanic intended to aid Props in remaining unseen, which has been described by many as ineffective. The primary debate among players revolves around the Hunters’ infinite ammo, which has led to concerns regarding its contribution to an unbalanced game dynamic. This allows Hunters to indiscriminately fire with little to no repercussions.
Another Reddit discussion proposed adopting a system reminiscent of the classic Prop Hunt experience in Garry’s Mod. This version implemented penalties for shooting at non-prop objects, effectively discouraging reckless play. Players who waste rounds on non-hiding entities would risk damaging themselves and potentially running out of ammo entirely, forcing them to resort to a melee weapon like the Crowbar.
While some players argue that the unlimited ammo and lack of damage are staples of Call of Duty’s gameplay, others contend that this has been a consistent source of frustration. A prevalent suggestion among players is to implement a limit on ammo as a means to restore some balance to Prop Hunt.
One player articulated this sentiment, saying, “Limited ammo is the way to go; don’t punish players with death for simply checking if something is a prop.” The amusing image of an operator resorting to melee combat, attempting to smash a fridge due to depleted ammo, underlines the potential for increased enjoyment with such a change.
Given that previous iterations of Call of Duty have granted Hunters unlimited ammo without consequences, it remains uncertain whether the developers will shift paradigms in Black Ops 6. Nonetheless, the discourse surrounding Prop Hunt has remained a hot topic since its introduction.
