In the world of Call of Duty, the Tac Sprint mechanic has long been a topic of heated debate among players. With the arrival of Season 2, a significant change has been made by introducing a new Perk designed to take its place.
Originally introduced in Modern Warfare 2019, Tac Sprint enabled players to move at an enhanced speed compared to regular sprinting. However, this speed boost came with a trade-off: aiming down sights became considerably slower while using Tac Sprint. Furthermore, this boosted movement mechanic was limited in duration, often leaving players exposed.
In contrast, Black Ops 6 addressed this limitation by allowing unlimited Tac Sprint when wielding a melee weapon. Despite these enhancements, a segment of the Warzone community continued to voice their desire for a complete removal of this mechanic. Their wishes have now been granted with the introduction of the Slipstream Perk in Season 2.
Introducing the Slipstream Perk
The Slipstream Perk offers an increase in base sprint speed while eliminating the need for Tac Sprint entirely. Popular Call of Duty content creator KRNG XVI recently showcased this new Perk in a video, praising it as an outstanding addition to multiplayer gameplay.
Slipstream is an A+ perk for MP. It gets you close to Tactical Sprint speed without the downside of the TS2F penalty (usually ~100ms extra), adding serious value to 0ms Sprint Assist and of course – the STRELOK LASER. I see no downsides. You can test it in a Private Match.pic.twitter.com/IhjgivTdAC

To gain the maximum benefit from the Slipstream Perk, KRNG XVI recommends pairing it with the Sterlock Laser. This attachment greatly enhances hip-fire accuracy when transitioning to aim down sight (ADS) but does come with the downside of being visible to opponents when aimed.
Visual evidence shared by KRNG XVI demonstrates how the Slipstream Perk allows players to maneuver through maps and engage in gunfights with greater ease compared to the difficulties posed when using Tac Sprint.
As for the optimal Perk 3 combination, it’s quite clear. Previously, Double Time was favored for extending Tac Sprint duration, but with its removal, Slipstream has emerged as the most advantageous option. Some may argue that other Perks, like Bankroll, which helps in acquiring Scorestreaks more efficiently, or Cold-Blooded, which prevents certain Scorestreaks from targeting players, could compete. However, these options remain more situational and do not deliver the same overall effectiveness as Slipstream.
I encourage you to try out the Slipstream Perk in your next multiplayer match. Feel the distinct advantage it provides and see how it transforms your gameplay experience.
