Black Ops 6 Zombies Developers Reverse Directed Mode Nerf After Player Backlash

In response to overwhelming backlash from the player community, the developers of Black Ops 6 Zombies have acknowledged their mistake regarding the recent updates and decided to reverse the Directed Mode alterations.

Acquiring mastery camo in Zombies remains an arduous task, requiring players to achieve thousands of eliminations with each weapon, including defeating elite foes. Strategies have emerged surrounding the Directed Mode, particularly on Liberty Falls, where players found managing challenges easier since the mode only progresses up to Round 15. Notably, players could remain in the match post-Round 15 to farm easier eliminations without the threat of a large enemy onslaught typical in later rounds.

On January 3, a significant update from Treyarch addressed this exploit. The developers implemented a 30-second delay between rounds after surpassing the initial round cap of five, resulting in a wait of approximately one minute for the next round to commence. This change sparked dissatisfaction among fans, who interpreted the modifications as a targeted nerf to the camo grinding experience. Players voiced their concerns, leading Treyarch to reevaluate their approach.

Treyarch Reverses Changes to Directed Mode

During the January 9 update, Treyarch expressed their commitment to enhancing the Zombies experience, stating, “The team is always focused on making Zombies fun and rewarding (it’s why we make video games!), but we don’t always nail it the first time.”

The development team reiterated, “We know it’s not fun to see a ‘fix’ multiple weeks later for something that wasn’t bothering you in the first place, so we’re reverting the Directed Mode changes.” This announcement was warmly received by the community, with many supporters praising the transparency of the developers throughout this decision-making process.

One enthusiastic player commented, “Good, that fix was totally idiotic,” while another added, “So grinding new nebulas won’t be god awful, nice.” Although unlocking Nebula camos for every weapon in Black Ops 6 will still demand considerable time and effort, this reversal should significantly ease the otherwise tedious journey.
