Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 2 Update: New Release Date, The Tomb Map, New SMG, and More Features

Season 2 of Black Ops 6 Zombies is poised to deliver an exciting update, introducing the much-anticipated second DLC map along with a range of gameplay enhancements that players have been eagerly awaiting.

Since its launch, Black Ops 6’s Zombies mode has rolled out an impressive array of content, starting with two unique maps followed by the debut of Citadelle des Morts and new Wonder Weapons during Season 1 Reloaded. Contrary to expectations for a more modest update this time, Treyarch is fully committed to expanding the experience. Below, we summarize what we currently know about Black Ops 6 Zombies Season 2, including its release date.

Release Date for BO6 Zombies Season 2

The eagerly awaited Season 2 for Black Ops 6 Zombies will officially commence on Tuesday, January 28, 2024. This launch coincides with new content for both multiplayer and Warzone modes. As part of this update, all three game modes will share a refreshed Battle Pass, allowing players to unlock an array of Blueprints, skins, and additional rewards by engaging in Zombie gameplay.

Among the highlights of the Season 2 update is the introduction of The Tomb, the second post-launch map designed specifically for Black Ops 6 Zombies. Set within a mystical ancient burial site, players will navigate treacherous underground catacombs while fighting to survive the relentless waves of undead.

The Tomb promises an experience comparable to Liberty Falls, characterized by “tighter play spaces” that enhance replayability. Players can also look forward to various side Easter Eggs and a reimagined Wonder Weapon inspired by the rich history of the Zombies franchise.

New Weapon: Iconic SMG

While the complete lineup of weapons for Black Ops 6 Season 2 has yet to be revealed, Treyarch has confirmed the addition of a new submachine gun (SMG). Although its official name is still under wraps, it has been teased as “one of the most iconic SMGs in Zombies history.”

This announcement has sparked speculation among fans about the possible return of the classic MP40, which has been a staple in nearly every Zombies mode since World at War, frequently appearing as a Wall Buy option. Alternatively, there is a contingent of players who believe the new weapon could be the PPSH-41, further heightening anticipation.

Quality of Life Enhancements

Beyond the exciting new content, the 115 Day announcement unveiled numerous quality of life improvements aimed at refining the overall Zombies experience. Below are some notable features:

  • Challenge Tracking & Near Completion (Zombies and Multiplayer)
    • Players can manually track up to 10 Calling Card and 10 Camo Challenges per mode, facilitating easier monitoring of progress.
    • If you have fewer than 10 challenges tracked, the next closest challenges will automatically fill those slots, helping players identify what they can complete next.
    • The leading Tracked or Near Completion challenges will be visible in the Lobby and during gameplay through the Options Menu.
  • Co-op Pause Feature
    • The party leader will now have the ability to pause the game during co-op matches, allowing the group to strategize or take a break when tackling high-round challenges. This feature has been highly requested since the game’s launch.
  • AFK Kick Loadout Recovery
    • Players kicked for being away from the keyboard (AFK) in co-op sessions can now recover their loadout, Essence, and Salvage upon rejoining the game.
  • Separate HUD Presets for Zombies and Multiplayer
    • Players can now customize HUD presets specifically for Zombies without altering their layout in Multiplayer, making for a more tailored experience.
    • While the team aimed to implement this feature sooner, prioritization of other critical updates delayed its release.

As we approach the launch, we anticipate a deeper dive into the full scope of Zombies content coming with Black Ops 6 Season 2. Stay tuned for updates and further details!
