BLACKPINK Jennie Supporters Accuse ‘Sabotage’ as ‘Mantra’ Music Video Gets YouTube Blocked

Fans of Jennie from BLACKPINK are voicing allegations of “sabotage”following the blocking of her latest music video for “Mantra”on YouTube.

On Tuesday, Kpop Charts announced on X (previously known as Twitter) that the “Mantra”music video has faced restrictions in various countries due to copyright complications.

The account dedicated to K-Pop updates didn’t specify the nature of the problems but shared a screenshot of the notification users see when attempting to watch the video, which stated, “This video contains content from SME, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.”

The news quickly generated a wave of reactions from fans, who expressed frustration and worry, particularly since this incident follows a temporary suspension of Jennie’s X account during her song promotion efforts.

“First their Twitter account, now the video for ‘Mantra.’ Someone is definitely trying to undermine her,”one fan commented, while another added, “From her social media to her music videos… what has Jennie done to deserve this level of hate? This is baffling.”

Another individual attempted to rationalize the blocking, explaining that YouTube employs a system known as Content ID, which automatically checks uploaded videos against a vast database of copyrighted works. If a match is detected, rights holders have the option to block, monetize, or track the content’s usage.

The same observer noted, “In Jennie’s situation, the Content ID system may have flagged ‘Mantra’ due to specific samples, beats, or other musical components claimed by various artists or producers.”

The extent of the issue’s impact across countries remains uncertain.
