BLACKPINK Lisa Engages with Boyfriend’s Family Amid Zion*sm Controversy: Is It True?

BLACKPINK’s Lisa has recently attracted attention for her interaction with the parents of her rumored boyfriend.

On October 1 (local time), Lisa made an appearance at the Louis Vuitton show during Paris Fashion Week, where she was seen speaking with Bernard Arnault and his wife, Hélène Mercier.

This incident gained significant attention, especially because Lisa appeared to confirm her relationship with Frederic Arnault, the CEO of the watch division for the world’s largest luxury group, LVMH, and the fourth son of Bernard Arnault, the chairman, founder, and CEO of LVMH.

The female idol recently performed her new song “Moonlit Floor,” which features lyrics believed to reference Frederic, including the line, “Green-eyed French boy got me trippin’.”

With the dating rumors surrounding Lisa and Frederic ongoing for quite some time, they have been spotted together on multiple occasions, leading many fans to express their support for the relationship, especially since Lisa seems to be smitten enough to write song lyrics about her rumored boyfriend.

Conversely, others have voiced concerns about Frederic’s family background, suggesting that they are not exactly admirable individuals.

Specifically, reports indicate that the Arnault family is a prominent supporter of Israel, donating 120 million USD annually to the Israeli military, which has been accused of committing war crimes in Palestine and Lebanon.

Upon learning this, various netizens expressed their disgust, stating they feel disappointed in Lisa for dating someone from this family. Some even suggested that by associating with Frederic, Lisa may share his family’s morals.

The controversy has drawn parallels to actress HyunA, who faced significant backlash for dating and getting engaged to Yong Jun-hyung, a figure implicated in the Burning Sun scandal.

Here are some comments from netizens:

  • “Everyone knows that but keeps quiet because she’s Lisa from BLACKPINK; that’s disgusting. Remember that dating someone = having the same morals as them.”
  • “Her French boy that has her tripping and his family are helping Israel bomb 3 countries at the same time.”
  • “Not gonna lie, as a huge Blink and fan of Lisa, I feel like we REALLY need to start holding her accountable at this point. The entire industry is rooted in Zionism issues, but there’s a big difference between that and DATING a huge Zionist and making him a LOVE SONG…”
  • “Like HyunA got attacked because she was dating that guy. Why not Lisa too? Y’all being selective now.”
  • “Wondering why K-pop idols drinking Starbucks got more hate and outrage than this.”
  • “Lisa’s taste in men is disappointing.”

Despite the backlash, some commenters noted that LVMH has not expressed direct support for Israel. Specifically, Louis Vuitton has not issued an official supportive statement and faced criticism in 2024 for incorporating imagery associated with Palestine in one of its designs.

Protests against LVMH are rooted in Bernard Arnault’s investment in a company called Wiz, which he backed in 2021. Wiz, an Israeli firm focused on cloud security, received a substantial financial commitment—including from Arnault, Salesforce, and Blackstone—totaling 120 million USD. The company’s founders also include cybersecurity veterans from the Israel Defense Forces.

Bernard made an additional personal investment in Wiz in 2023.

Additionally, LVMH Luxury Ventures invested in Lusix, an Israeli jewelry firm, in 2022, though the specific amount was not disclosed. According to Lusix, however, LVMH and other investors contributed up to 90 million USD.

Thus, while the Arnault family didn’t directly donate 120 million USD per year to Israel, Bernard himself and a company associated with LVMH have invested in Israeli firms in undisclosed amounts.
