On August 5 (KST), HBO released a teaser and multiple still images for the upcoming third season of “The White Lotus”, which will include BLACKPINK’s Lisa as a cast member.
Despite Lisa not making an appearance in this new teaser yet, excitement is already at an all-time high. However, in addition to high expectations, “The White Lotus” is currently receiving significant backlash.
It is evident that the latest teaser for “The White Lotus”features a prominent yellow filter, a color commonly associated with Hollywood’s representation of “third-world countries”and is believed to perpetuate discriminatory connotations.
The choice to use a yellow filter in the new season, set in Thailand, perpetuates the stereotype of portraying the country as “underdeveloped”and “dirty”.
