On August 8th, a live broadcast was held by BLACKPINK on the fan community platform Weverse.
During the live session, all the members of BLACKPINK appeared wearing conical hats and greeted their fans with a collective “Hello, we are BLACKPINK.”Jisoo acknowledged that it was their 8th anniversary on August 8th and they were excited to finally reunite and greet their loyal fans, BLINKs. Jennie also expressed her joy at being able to meet after such a long time. As the broadcast continued smoothly, Rosé playfully remarked, “You all are doing great, I’m just a bit frozen up here.”
The members of BLACKPINK marked their 8th year since their debut by lighting candles on a cake and singing a festive song together.
Jisoo, who arrived without any makeup, confessed, “To be honest, I was quite anxious about coming here. I kept thinking, ‘What if I end up looking like a disaster while everyone else looks like royalty?’ That’s when Jennie called me and playfully asked, ‘Are you planning on looking like a disaster today?’”Upon hearing her response, I thought to myself, “Well, it’s okay if two out of the four of us look like a mess.”However, when Jennie and I caught a glimpse of Lisa and Rosé, we couldn’t help but exclaim, “They look like true princesses!”The audience couldn’t contain their laughter as Jisoo shared this amusing conversation they had before the
Lisa mentioned, “I expected everyone to wear black and pink. I even dressed in sleep pants,”in reference to the team’s trademark hues. Jennie replied, “I wasn’t sure what to wear.”
The group continued their conversation as they savored the delicious cake. Lisa suddenly asked, “Our BLINKs are still entertained, right? Even though all we’re doing is eating cake.”Jisoo playfully replied, “Actually, our BLINKs said they’re content just watching us do nothing. So, we can just stay right here.”
Lisa and Jisoo both reflected on their past experiences, with Lisa recalling, “The last time we did a live together was in a small room at the company.”Jisoo added, “Even for our 7th anniversary, we were unable to do a full-group live.”
The unexpected live broadcast delighted fans who shared their excitement through comments such as, “It’s heartwarming to see them together,””Can’t wait for their comeback as a group,””Congratulations on 8 years, BLACKPINK,””Each member looks stunning,”and “It’s impressive how they are managing both individual and group projects.”
BLACKPINK made their debut on August 8th, 2016 with the double title tracks “Whistle” and “BOOMBAYAH” . In 2022, they released their second full album, “Born Pink”, and achieved top spots on both the U.S. charts.
Last December, BLACKPINK extended their group agreement with YG Entertainment, but they are now managing their solo endeavors separately. Jennie formed her own label called ODDATELIER, Lisa established LLOUD, Jisoo launched BLISSOO, and Rosé signed an exclusive contract with The Black Label.
On August 8th, BLACKPINK will come together for a special fan signing event to commemorate their 8th debut anniversary. The next day, they will attend a press conference for the movie “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK] IN CINEMAS” at Times Square in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul.
