BLACKPINK’s DDU-DU DDU-DU Becomes First Dance Practice Video to Reach 500 Million Views

On April 27th, YG Entertainment announced that BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU”dance practice video had reached over 500 million views on YouTube at 11:02 PM the day before. The video was released on June 18th, 2018, and it took approximately 5 years and 10 months to reach this milestone.

The remarkable number of views on BLACKPINK’s dance practice videos has become a defining feature of the group. Out of their 45 videos with over 100 million views on YouTube, this is the fourth dance practice video to reach 500 million views, demonstrating the enthusiastic support of their worldwide fans for BLACKPINK’s performances.

The music video for “DDU-DU DDU-DU”(2.1 billion views) continues to surpass its own records on YouTube, making it the first and most-viewed music video by a K-pop group.

The title track “DDU-DU DDU-DU”from BLACKPINK’s debut mini-album “SQUARE UP”became a huge hit, thanks to its catchy chorus and choreography that mimicked shooting with both hands. It was the most-watched K-pop music video globally in that year.

This made it the highest ranked song for a K-pop girl group at that time. Additionally, it accumulated over 690 million streams on Spotify and was close to reaching 700 million streams.”

In the previous year, BLACKPINK successfully wrapped up their global tour “BORN PINK”with a total of 66 performances in 34 different cities.
