On September 9 (KST), the HBO series “The Idol” was honored with the award for “Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming” at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards.
This achievement marks “The Idol” , featuring music artist Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, model and actress Lily-Rose Depp (daughter of Johnny Depp), and BLACKPINK member Jennie, as an official Emmy-winning production.
The choreography nomination for “The Idol” had sparked varied reactions, as choreography is noted as both a highlight and a source of controversy due to its “overly sensual” nature.
Jennie’s dance scenes with male dancers and her provocative costumes in the series have been described as “suggestive” and “risqué” , leading many to question her decision to take part in such a provocative series.
The controversial themes presented in “The Idol” , particularly regarding women’s issues, have attracted significant criticism aimed at Jennie.
Nevertheless, with “The Idol” now officially an Emmy winner, it appears that the series has successfully navigated its controversies.
In related news, Jennie is poised to make her solo comeback in October this year and will be collaborating with the reputed US record label Columbia Records for her forthcoming single.
