On October 2, a video was shared by fans showcasing BLACKPINK’s Jennie taking a group selfie with them in Paris, which quickly garnered significant attention on social media.
However, the context surrounding this group selfie was far from positive, as revealed in subsequent posts by the same “fans”.
Specifically, a member from the group posted a TikTok video depicting how they followed Jennie as she left a clothing store. The video captured the group making disrespectful comments towards Jennie when she attempted to enter her car, attempting to guilt-trip the idol by asking, “Are you serious? Do you hate us?” until she consented to take photos with them.
So, it seems like these so-called ‘fans’ were stalking JENNIE and shouted, “Are you serious? Do you hate us?” at her. In this video, we can see JENNIE being guilt-tripped by these rude people. We sincerely hope this behavior is not repeated in the future by any of you. If you… https://t.co/MEDngQdy4f pic.twitter.com/lBcsfAmccY

Notably, one individual even resorted to calling Jennie a “B*tch” when the BLACKPINK star initially declined their request for photos.
Adding to the troubling situation, the group of “fans” who took the group selfie were later revealed to have stalked Jennie around Paris on scooters.
Currently, all members of the group have made their social media accounts private and deleted the video in which they insulted Jennie.
In related news, Korean media reported that Jennie also faced instances of racism during her time in France.
A particularly troubling video circulating online shows Jennie interacting with American actress Margaret Qualley, born in 1994, at the event. After embracing Jennie, Margaret proceeded to touch Jennie’s blonde hair without her consent, questioning, “Is it real?”
When Jennie responded that it wasn’t, Margaret remarked, “It looks real.”

This incident has generated considerable outrage among fans worldwide, many of whom criticized Margaret Qualley for what they viewed as racially insensitive behavior. They highlighted that questioning an Asian individual, who typically does not have blonde hair, about the authenticity of their hair can be perceived as a form of racial discrimination.
As of now, Margaret Qualley has not publicly addressed the incident.
