BLACKPINK’s Jennie Registers Trademark for English Name Jennie Ruby Jane

Last month, media outlet Star News reported that Jennie had officially registered the trademark for her English name, “JENNIE RUBY JANE,”on August 2.

Specifically, in January of last year, she submitted an application to the Korean Intellectual Property Office to trademark “JENNIE RUBY JANE”. After undergoing the examination procedure, the office issued a notice of the application’s two-month opposition period in April, and subsequently made the decision to register the trademark.

Jennie’s birth name is “Kim Jennie.”During an appearance on a variety show, she revealed that her name was entirely made up in Hangul. However, due to her time spent studying in New Zealand as a child, she also goes by the name “JENNIE RUBY JANE.”

In the HBO drama “The Idol” that aired from June to July last year, she went by the name “JENNIE RUBY JANE” instead of her usual stage name “Jennie.” This was her debut acting role and she was selected to attend the Cannes Film Festival as part of the cast.

Jennie has a personal Instagram and YouTube accounts that are both registered under the name “JENNIE RUBY JANE,” demonstrating her strong connection to the name. She has also filed for trademark rights for this name in the United States, further solidifying her ownership.

In the meantime, Jennie’s contract with YG Entertainment, which she had signed during her time as a trainee, came to an end in August of last year. Subsequently, she founded her own independent label, “ODD ATELIER”, and began her solo endeavors. However, she remains under contract with YG Entertainment solely for her group, Blackpink.
