Despite receiving praise for her regal appearance at the recent Dior Fashion Show, BLACKPINK Jisoo was surprised for THIS reason.
On June 24 (local time), BLACKPINK’s Jisoo made an appearance at the Dior Fashion Show in Paris, France, serving as the luxury brand’s global ambassador.
On that day, she captivated everyone’s attention with her medieval princess-like appearance, causing a buzz among both domestic and international fans.
Jisoo’s high-level elegance undoubtedly made her the talk of the town after her photos and videos circulated online.
- “She’s a real-life princess.”
- “Her outfit is like armor and princess dress combined, she’s so pretty.”
However, amidst the numerous praises she received, there were also numerous criticisms written by netizens.
- “Celebrities who promote sweatshop companies will also be disliked.”
- “Now when I look at a Dior bag, only 80,000 won ($57) comes to mind.”
Upon seeing this, fans, particularly BLINKs (the fandom of BLACKPINK), were puzzled as to why Jisoo was facing criticism. Netizens were quick to clarify that it was because of Dior’s involvement in the “80,000 won”scandal, which revolved around labor exploitation.
This issue ignited a discussion among K-pop enthusiasts after it was disclosed that the production cost of a Dior bag is just 80,000 KRW (equivalent to $57).
According to reports, the Milan court in Italy has mandated that the bag manufacturer of LVMH Dior Italy be placed under the supervision of a judicial administrator for a period of one year. This decision was made in response to allegations that the company had failed to address and even condoned labor exploitation by its subcontractors in China, who have been accused of operating as a sweatshop.
According to reports, the Chinese subcontractor allegedly demanded some employees to work 15-hour shifts and then labeled the bags as Dior, selling them for 3.86 million won ($2.78k) despite being produced for $57.
Currently, there has been no comment from Jisoo’s side, heightening anticipation for her next course of action to protect her reputation.
At the same time, her fans are closely watching her journey as both an actress and a solo performer.
Following the renewal of her contract for group activities with YG Entertainment, Jisoo revealed her plans to begin a new chapter with BLISSOO, a label established by her older brother’s health functional food brand for young children.
Despite being under a new agency, the idol continues to build excitement for her upcoming projects, including the Coupang Play drama “Influenza”and the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of the popular webtoon “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.”
