BLACKPINK’s Jisoo in Talks for Lead Role in K-Drama Monthly Boyfriend

On August 29th, OSEN reported that the production team of “Monthly Boyfriend”has offered Jisoo the lead female role. BLISSOO, the agency in charge of Jisoo’s solo activities, has confirmed that she has received the offer and is currently considering it.

Jisoo’s acting debut was in the JTBC drama “Snowdrop”, which ended on January 30th, 2022. Set in Seoul in 1987, the drama follows the story of Soo-ho, a graduate student who shows up at a women’s university dormitory covered in blood, and Yeong-ro, a student who risks her safety to help him despite the intense surveillance and threats. Jisoo and actor Jung Hae-in, who played the lead roles, received much recognition for their performances, making the drama highly anticipated.

Jisoo has finished filming for the upcoming release of “Omniscient Reader”, a film adaptation of the beloved web novel with the same title. The movie features actors Ahn Hyo-seop and Lee Min-ho, while Jisoo portrays the character of Lee Ji-hye, a high school student who was originally from the novel “Three Ways to Survive in a Ruined World”. In the film, she fights alongside Yoo Joong-hyuk (Lee Min-ho) under his leadership. The movie is set to hit theaters next summer.

Jisoo recently completed filming for the Coupang Play series “Newtopia”, in which she plays alongside actor Park Jeong-min. The show follows soldier Lee Jae-yoon and his girlfriend Kang Young-joo as they battle a swarm of zombies and make their way towards each other amidst the chaos of an air defense unit located in a tall building in Seoul.

In February, Jisoo became the third member of BLACKPINK to launch her own solo label, BLISSOO. Despite this, she will still participate in group activities with YG Entertainment. Her older brother, Kim Jung-hoon, holds the position of CEO at BLISSOO. It is anticipated that Jisoo’s solo endeavors will primarily revolve around her acting career.
