Recently, a past interview response from BLACKPINK’s Jisoo has resurfaced, receiving widespread acclaim from netizens.
During an interview with fashion magazine Elle Korea in July 2023, Jisoo was posed a challenging question regarding whether BLACKPINK had paved the way for other K-pop artists.
“BLACKPINK was the headliner of BST Hyde Park 2023 on July 2, and the festival website introduced them as ‘K-Pop Trailblazer’. Do you really think BLACKPINK has paved the way?” the interviewer inquired.
In response, Jisoo thoughtfully said, “Maybe half and half? We also walked the path that others have made, but I think we also pioneered some parts when we debuted at a time when the platform was expanding and accessibility to K-pop was increasing. Just as there was a time when we walked on a trimmed road, I hope we can help make the path for those coming next smoother. It would be nice if they could pioneer their own thing and connect with each other.”
Jisoo’s answer, which both honors the achievements of previous artists and recognizes her group’s success while also expressing hope for future generations, has attracted significant admiration.
