BLACKPINK’s Lisa on Her First Acting Role: I Was Almost in Tears When I Got the Part

On August 12th, ELLE published a photoshoot featuring BLACKPINK’s Lisa, along with an accompanying interview. In the interview, Lisa candidly discussed her experience with the acting role she took on in the third season of HBO’s original series “The White Lotus”.

“The drama series, “The White Lotus,”is set in a hotel and its third season was predominantly filmed in Thailand, specifically in Phuket, Koh Samui, and Bangkok. Lisa shared that as filming took place in her home country, she was able to enjoy delicious Thai cuisine daily and cherished the chance to have her mother nearby during the shoot.”

Lisa discussed her experience with joining the cast of “The White Lotus 3”, stating that she kept her audition a secret from her mother and friends. When she received the news that she had been cast, she was overcome with emotion and nearly cried. As this was her first acting project, she felt a mix of excitement and nerves. She also mentioned that upon hearing the news, she had a brief moment of happiness before immediately wondering how she would share the news with others.

Lisa chose not to disclose her exact involvement in “The White Lotus” , yet she revealed that she had taken acting classes. Initially, she had doubts about her acting abilities as it was a new experience for her. However, she noted that it was similar to filming a music video and hoped that her fans would appreciate her performance. She also expressed her pride in the series, stating that she believes it will showcase Thailand in a positive light and make people fall in love with the country even more.

However, BLACKPINK made the decision to extend their group contract with YG Entertainment in December of last year, but chose not to renew their individual contracts. Despite this, the members have continued to stay active as a group. In June, Lisa launched her own personal label, LLOUD, and dropped her solo album. The latest single, “Rockstar”, effectively showcases Lisa’s impressive rap skills and dynamic vocals.

Lisa openly shared, “I take great pride in being a part of BLACKPINK and I have a deep love for my fellow members. Our dedication is not solely for our fans, but also for ourselves. There has never been a question about it, this is our way of life.”

As a 13-year-old trainee, she recalls wanting to tell herself to simply move forward and not risk ruining everything. She advises to not overthink the future and to instead stay focused on the present task. She emphasizes the importance of perseverance and never giving up.
