In a recent interview with Vogue, released on October 18, BLACKPINK member Rosé discussed her new track “APT,”a collaboration featuring global sensation Bruno Mars.
Rosé revealed that her song “APT”draws inspiration from a popular Korean drinking game she enjoys known as the “Apartment Game.”
After crafting “APT”and arriving back home from the studio, Rosé experienced a moment of panic, questioning whether it was appropriate to base a song on a drinking game. She went so far as to contact her team, asking them to erase the track from their devices, but they assured her that they had already fallen in love with the song.
In a nod to her heritage, Rosé incorporated the Korean pronunciation of “apartment”– “apateu” – consistently throughout the track, honoring her roots.
This thoughtful approach has been met with enthusiastic praise from Korean netizens, who shared their thoughts in the following comments:
- It’s wonderful that she is mindful of her impact.
- Wow, she is clearly aware of her influence and has concerns about it; contrary to her fears, the song has no references to alcohol—it’s simply a feel-good track.
- Her attention to detail is impressive. Such a considerate mindset is refreshing.
- So adorable! Rosé’s thoughtfulness shines through.
- It’s fine since you can enjoy the “Apartment Game” without alcohol.
