On June 17th, Newsen reported that Rosé will be joining The Black Label, a music label established by renowned producer Teddy.
The Black Label is an entertainment company founded in 2016 by Teddy, a well-known producer and member of the group 1TYM from YG Entertainment. The agency currently represents popular artists such as Taeyang from BIGBANG, solo singers Jeon So-mi and Zion.T, and actors Park Bo-gum and Lee Jong-won.
Rosé and Teddy have been collaborating on musical projects for approximately a decade at YG. Teddy has been the primary producer for several of BLACKPINK’s chart-topping tracks, such as the group’s debut releases “Whistle”and “BOOMBAYAH”in 2016.
In the 2020 Netflix documentary “BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky,”Rosé’s group BLACKPINK expressed their gratitude for Teddy, stating that he is a producer who truly listens to their stories, guides them in new directions, and is like a fifth member of the group in their hearts.
The Black Label informed OSEN that the contract was still being discussed.
Last year, BLACKPINK concluded their world tour ‘BORN PINK’ with a total of 1.8 million attendees. Following the tour, they made history as the first Asian headliners at the Coachella Festival in the US and the Hyde Park Festival in the UK, performing in front of a large crowd.
Towards the end of the previous year, the group made the decision to adopt a different approach for their activities. The four members came to an agreement to continue promoting as a group under YG, but also pursue individual activities separately. While Rosé was an exception, Jennie, Lisa, and Jisoo each established their own private labels. In December, Jennie launched ODD ATELIER, followed by Lisa’s LLOUD in February. With the help of her brother, Jisoo also established BLISSOO in February.
