Bleach author wants anime remake more faithful to manga

Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, has spoken out about his desire for a remake of the anime, wanting an adaptation more faithful to the original manga.

In the 2000s, three major works of the shonen genre ruled the manga world. Aptly renamed the “Big Three” (or Big 3), the group was made up of One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach, and all three series were entitled to equally popular small screen adaptations.

But because everything can’t be rosy, the three grand masters have stopped riding on the competition: if One Piece continues at the top, Naruto has reached its grand finale to make way for his replacement, Boruto. As for Bleach… it’s a little more complicated. After a long break, the series ended up resuming in 2022, after ten years of absence from the screen.

Although most fans were there, the blow still died down a little, while the public has in the meantime discovered equally popular anime such as Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen.

And another point disturbed aficionados: the anime repeated plots from previous seasons. Particularly those of the numerous filler episodes, which had divided the fan community for the deviation taken from the manga. A detail that also bothers the author, Tite Kubo, a little.

On Tumblr, Reikorun translated into English several Q&A sessions with Tite Kubo, from the Klub Outside site. And on several occasions, the question of a Bleach remake comes up.

To the question “Is there a possibility of a remake of the anime?” , raising the arrival of more modern techniques, the mangaka responds as follows: “It is not planned, but I would like that.” happen.”Before confirming in the affirmative when asked if he would like an adaptation more faithful to the manga.

Tite Kubo also raised his lack of involvement in the series, particularly on season 4: “All the original characters in the anime that are not expressly stated as being mine, were created by Kudō-san. I may have done a final design check on at least the Amagai arc, but I haven’t touched the Bounts arc.”

At the moment, the anime is not finished. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War only featured two games out of the four announced. The third will be released in 2024, but no precise release date has yet been given.
