2. Recap of Episode 10
Episode 10 kicks off with Ashisogijizo being eviscerated by Pernida, rendering Mayuri’s initial strategy ineffective from the start. As the battle intensified, Pernida’s combat abilities evolved, leading him to unleash a volley of arrows at Mayuri. Fortunately, Nemu intervened just in time to save him, though she ended up suffering serious injuries in the process.
Following her rescue, Mayuri chastised Nemu for disobeying his orders and quickly reengaged Pernida. His new tactic involved disseminating an anesthetic throughout the area to incapacitate Pernida, while Nemu aimed to inject a potent nerve coagulant into Pernida’s primary form. However, the strategy faltered when Pernida managed to slice off one of Mayuri’s fingers before the coagulant could take effect.
At this juncture, it became clear that Pernida had absorbed some of Zaraki’s traits, complicating matters for Mayuri. Just as Pernida launched a counterattack, Nemu sprang into action once again, destroying one of Pernida’s hands. In a moment of desperation, she increased her output to 0.8% before a critical breakdown, sacrificing part of her life to augment her power as she launched her Gikon Jurinju at Pernida.
Regrettably, Nemu was mercilessly obliterated by Pernida’s remnants. In a poignant moment, Mayuri retrieved Nemu’s cerebrum after her destruction. This pivotal moment caused Pernida to bloat and ultimately explode. Mayuri revealed that Nemu’s brain contained a mechanism that accelerated cell division, and when Pernida consumed it, his demise followed shortly after.
This episode was marked by emotional depth, showcasing Nemu’s unwavering dedication to Mayuri, even in the face of death. Her sacrifice was a testament to loyalty that resonated powerfully with viewers, despite Mayuri’s seemingly indifferent response.
