Under the meticulous direction of Tite Kubo, the anime series Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War has recently unveiled the Vollstandig form of Uryu Ishida. In the most recent episode titled “The Betrayer,”Uryu faced off against Ichigo Kurosaki, determined to stop his friend from thwarting Yhwach’s scheme to eradicate the Soul King.
Throughout their intense confrontation, Ichigo, empowered by his latest abilities, initially had the upper hand. Nevertheless, out of respect for their friendship, Ichigo refrained from delivering a fatal blow. In response, Uryu summoned his resolve as a Quincy and activated his Vollstandig form to turn the tide.
While his Vollstandig form remains without a name, it granted Uryu remarkable power, enabling him to overpower Ichigo within the Royal Palace and garner admiration from Yhwach’s Schutzstaffel. This moment marked a significant point in the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime, given that this form was not depicted in the manga.

Unveiling Uryu Ishida’s Vollstandig Form in Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Anime
Within his manga, Tite Kubo never had the chance to showcase Uryu Ishida’s Vollstandig. It remained unclear whether the Quincy had obtained this power directly from Yhwach, apart from his Schrift abilities.
However, Kubo has leveraged the anime adaptation of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc to introduce concepts that he wished to incorporate in the manga but could not, including Uryu’s Vollstandig form.
In the latest episode of the anime’s third season, “The Betrayer,”Uryu activated his Quincy Vollstandig against Ichigo Kurosaki. Upon activation, he manifested two wings composed of Spiritual Pressure.
Additionally, this transformation draped Uryu in armor crafted from Spiritual Pressure, adorning his limbs and chest with a crest reminiscent of an arrow’s fletching. Numerous arrows swirled around him in this form, similar to Byakuya Kuchiki’s iconic Senbonzakura.
Interestingly, unlike other Quincies, Uryu did not sport a Halo. Moreover, the episode omitted the name of his Vollstandig. Nevertheless, his adept mastery over the countless arrows rendered him a formidable adversary for Ichigo, who struggled to dodge the relentless barrage.
In many respects, Uryu’s enhanced capabilities in his Vollstandig form elevated his Licht Reigen, allowing him to direct his arrows at will, with seemingly endless reserves.
The latest episode also highlighted that Uryu’s Vollstandig form significantly boosted his agility and strength. Toward the battle’s conclusion against Ichigo, he unveiled another powerful technique.
By condensing the surrounding arrows into a single point, Uryu executed a massive pentagonal attack known as Sternenstaub, translating to “Stardust”in English. This technique matched Ichigo Kurosaki’s powerful Getsuga Jujisho, ultimately leading to Ichigo’s defeat with a single arrow that pierced through his torso.
Final Thoughts
The introduction of Uryu Ishida’s Vollstandig form in the Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War anime represented a momentous event for the series, given its absence in the manga. The current season has significantly spotlighted the Quincy characters compared to earlier installments.
After impressively showcasing his abilities by defeating Senjumaru Shutara with his Schrift in the premiere episode, this marks another pivotal moment for Uryu as he reveals his new power. Notably, he previously hinted at his Vollstandig form against Senjumaru, although it wasn’t fully manifested. It was only fitting for Uryu to display its complete potential against Ichigo Kurosaki, his longtime friend.
