The recent deletion of a seemingly harmless tweet from Bleed Esports’ Valorant account serves as a clear indication that yay should not have joined the team.
yay’s last series victory in competitive Valorant was over 400 days ago when Cloud9 defeated Paper Rex at the VCT LOCKIN. Prior to joining Bleed on Pacific, yay had been playing for Disguised for most of 2023. Unfortunately, his time with DSG resulted in a major disappointment for the organization, leading them to ultimately exit the Valorant scene.
Since the Chamber nerfs in late 2022, this player’s performance has noticeably declined. Despite having more than a year to find a suitable replacement, he has been unable to recreate the same level of skill and success he had with his pre-nerf Chamber strategies.
After becoming a franchised player, yay’s skills were still highly regarded, particularly with the French Sentinel, where he was known for his impeccable sniping abilities. However, since transitioning to duelist agents such as Jett and Raze, yay’s presence in competitive matches has been less noticeable.
In their latest defeats, Bleed has seen subpar showings from yay while playing as Raze. The team appeared to criticize yay in their Twitter/X post, which targeted Raze players who were not meeting expectations.
Bleed’s deleted Tweet making fun of Raze players right after yay’s poor performance with her on stage.
Despite being quickly deleted, the post featured a Family Guy meme with the caption “tag that one teammate”. The meme depicted Meg as a Raze with a score of 3/14/4, while the other family members, represented as Brimstone, Neon, and Yoru, all had positive KDs. This is particularly concerning as Raze’s main role is to secure kills.
The post’s comments were immediately filled with mentions of yay, who struggled in two Raze games against ZETA DIVISION. Throughout the three-map series, yay had a total of 18 kills and 31 deaths on Raze, resulting in a surprising 0.5 overall K/D ratio for the agent.
“One commenter pointed out that the team in the GIF on Bleed included him, with a GIF of yay, and said,”
Bleed quickly came to yay’s defense in the comments section after the post was published, urging others to “chill out”and stop spreading hate towards yay in an effort to counter the negative comments.
Bleed’s response to backlash under meme tweet.
Currently, the team is tied for the lowest rank in the Pacific region with Global Esports, both holding a 0-3 record. Their upcoming schedule poses a challenge as they are set to compete against tough opponents such as DFM, Paper Rex, and DRX, potentially worsening their current situation. This Twitter meme could be interpreted as a Freudian slip.
Despite their potential to start with a 0-6 record, Bleed’s duelist is struggling to contribute to their team’s success. yay was expected to be the superstar that would lead this team to the top, but it appears that he is hindering their ability to compete with the best teams in VCT Pacific.
Bleed will eventually need to reevaluate their approach and determine if retaining yay is a worthwhile decision.
