Blizzard Addresses Exploit in Diablo 4 Season 5’s Latest Update

It is a disappointing day for players of Diablo 4 Season 5 as Blizzard has discovered the cause of a bug that was giving them excessive amounts of free EXP. The developers have promptly taken the feature offline.

As we enter Diablo 4 Season 5, the armies of Hell are pouring into Sanctuary. Although there were some initial issues with server lag and crashes, players have been able to take advantage of early bugs.

Blizzard has chosen to maintain the unintentional rollover of Tempering Manuals in order to keep some enjoyment for players. However, the bug that allowed certain players to quickly gain 30 levels will not be kept in the game.

The developers of Diablo 4 have identified the cause of a glitch in Season 5 that has been granting players an excessive amount of EXP. In order to address the issue, Blizzard has temporarily reduced the power of the Umbracrux Unique Dagger, which was responsible for the bug. They are currently working on a fix.

After the release of Diablo 4 Season 5, it was brought to attention that some players were receiving significant increases in EXP after defeating bosses. Further investigation by the community revealed that all of the reported cases involved players using the Rogue class. It was initially speculated that the Rogue class may have been the cause of this bug.

The theories were fairly accurate. Blizzard has officially announced that the Umbracrux Unique Dagger, exclusive to Rogues, summons a Shadow Totem that distributes damage received to nearby enemies.

According to Community Development Director Adam Fletcher’s forum post, the team was informed of a problem where players were gaining an excessive amount of experience by defeating specific bosses while using ‘The Umbracrux’ Unique. As a result, the power of this item has been temporarily disabled.

Consequently, the Unique Affix of the weapon has been temporarily disabled. However, players will still have the ability to discover and equip the Umbracrux, although it may not be as effective. Fletcher assured that a permanent solution will be implemented and players will be notified once it is ready.

For those with a curious nature, he refrained from giving a complete explanation of the Umbracrux bug’s workings in Diablo 4 Season 5. Fortunately, those who were fortunate enough to benefit from it were permitted to retain their free EXP.
