One of the significant new features introduced in World of Warcraft: The War Within is the Warband Bank. However, this update has been plagued by bugs, causing considerable disruption for players attempting to manage their in-game currency.
A post on Reddit highlighted one player’s nightmare with the new banking system, where they lost a substantial amount of in-game gold due to an unidentified issue.

While the specifics of this incident remain unclear, the player reported experiencing server lag outside of instanced content. They attempted a withdrawal from the Warband bank, only to find that no action occurred and other players appeared to be stuck in place.
To resolve the server issues, the player logged out and back in, only to discover that the gold they had attempted to transfer had vanished. Since this incident, numerous players have come forward with similar accounts, as seen in the comments on the original post.
The troubles extend beyond the Warband Bank, with Guild banks also impacted. Several reports surfaced on the WoW forums, stating that entire Guild storages had been wiped clean, corroborated by comments on the Reddit thread.
“My Main’s Guild had its bank completely wiped. There appears to be no common factor among the Guilds affected, except that many experienced issues while trying to move or remove items, suggesting that their database pointers might have been corrupted. Additionally, some users reported that Guild logs weren’t being updated,” one user mentioned.
In response to these issues, Blizzard released a Blue post, confirming that they at least identified the cause of disappearing items from Guild banks. Unfortunately, for those affected, the nature of the data loss means that the return of many items is not possible.
Currently, there is no official information confirming whether the issues with the Warband Bank are part of a broader system failure or an isolated incident. Given the stakes with millions of gold at risk, WoW players are eagerly awaiting clarification.
