Although Bloomburrow from Magic: The Gathering offers numerous powerful Creature cards that have potential for use as Commanders, Enchantments like Echoing Assault are also proving to be an essential and thrilling aspect of the set.
At a casting cost of 4R, Echoing Assault falls on the more expensive end of Enchantments. However, the cost is justified by the significant enhancement it provides to your token Creatures.
Similar to other red Enchantments, this card focuses on enhancing the combat capabilities of your Creatures, granting them beneficial evasion, and utilizing a modified form of Bloomburrow’s Offspring ability.
MTG Bloomburrow’s Echoing Assault buffs Creature tokens
To begin with, this card provides a universal enhancement to your Creature tokens, giving them all the ability of Menace.
Although evasive abilities such as Trample are typically favored for their consistent ability to inflict damage despite opponent blockers, the success of Commanders like Urza, Chief Artificer serves as evidence that Menace on Creature tokens should not be underestimated.
Offspring, one of the most notable mechanics introduced in Bloomburrow, enables players to summon an extra 1/1 version of a Creature at the moment of casting, while still preserving its abilities. While the primary purpose of Offspring is to duplicate abilities, the presence of draft factions such as Rabbitfolk showcases the variety of options available in Bloomburrow for overwhelming the board with tokens and inflicting significant damage.
Echoing Assault enhances this combat proficiency and also creates short-term duplicates in the style of Offspring. This card encourages aggressive gameplay and attacking multiple opponents.
You are allowed to generate a 1/1 duplicate of a non-token Creature that is attacking each opponent you target during your turn. The tokens will enter the battlefield tapped and attacking, and will be sacrificed during the next end step.
This skill not only increases your overall damage output each round, but it also excels at replicating Creatures with Enter the Battlefield, attack, or damage abilities, providing you with a plethora of possibilities to explore.
The Offspring ability of Bloomburrow demonstrates the extensive consideration the Wizards team has put into Creature token mechanics. Mastering cards such as Echoing Assault may prove challenging, but the payoff will certainly be worth it.
