With the publication of Blue Lock chapter 272, the manga series solidified the dynamic between Yoichi Isagi, Michael Kaiser, and Rin Itoshi. The trio’s abilities were evenly matched, leading Isagi to search for a fourth player to take on the role of the match’s protagonist.
Following the previous chapter, Rin Itoshi’s past and discovery of the true origin of his ego from a Boss Monster in a children’s show was revealed. It became apparent that his ego was not fueled by destructive tendencies, but rather by a willingness to risk his own life for destruction. At that moment, Michael Kaiser appeared, attempting to steal the ball from Kaiser.

Blue Lock: Isagi, Kaiser, and Rin’s Endless Cycle (Chapter 272)
In the latest installment of Blue Lock, chapter 272, ‘Rock, Paper, Scissors,’ Julian Loki observed the common practice among athletes of sticking out their tongues in concentration. However, Rin’s tongue seemed to be protruding more than usual, giving him a wild appearance. This was not lost on Noel Noa, who remarked on the striker’s true personality.
The focus of the chapter then shifted to Rin Itoshi and Michael Kaiser’s matchup, where the German striker successfully prevented Rin from making a move. Isagi then joined Kaiser in obstructing Rin’s path. As this was happening, Blue Lock chapter 272 transitioned to Rin’s inner thoughts as he came to the realization that his urge to defeat and surpass his opponents stemmed from his deep-seated desire to overcome an exceptional individual.
In the past, Rin’s brother Sae was the one who would evoke this emotion in him. Though he was absent for this match, Isagi and Kaiser were able to ignite Rin’s passion together. As a result, Rin made the decision to overcome both players and continue forward. However, Kaiser remained steadfast in his position, leading to Alexis Ness stepping in and successfully taking the ball from Rin. In that moment, Ness sought approval from Kaiser, but the striker no longer paid him any attention.
It was unfortunate that the ball Ness had cleared ended up in the possession of Charles Chevalier, who wasted no time in attempting a long pass to Ryusei Shidou. However, the focus of Blue Lock chapter 272 shifted to Kaiser’s monologue, where he came to the realization that Rin was the number one player in Blue Lock, with Yoichi closely following as his main rival. Kaiser saw them as the center of the team and was determined to take the protagonist’s spot that they had created.
Michael Kaiser’s determination was evident as he used his header to block Charles’ pass to Shidou. The scene quickly shifted to Yoichi Isagi’s monologue in Blue Lock chapter 272. Isagi came to the realization that the three strikers – himself, Kaiser, and Rin – were stuck in a deadlock, continuously getting crushed by each other in an endless cycle. The only hope of breaking free from this cycle was if another player made a bold move to help them break the stalemate.
