On August 18, 2024, the staff members of the anime series announced the title of Blue Lock season 2, which will be Blue Lock vs U-20 Japan. Along with the key visual, four additional visuals were unveiled, showcasing the Blue Lock members in their U-20 uniforms. The sequel to this anime will premiere on October 5, 2024.
The sterilization of the series began in August 2018 and it has remained one of the most influential sports manga series globally.
Blue Lock: Season 2 Releases Key Visual and Reveals Title
The recently unveiled key visual for Blue Lock season 2 showcases the primary protagonist, Isagi Yoichi, alongside the Itoshi brothers, Sae and Rin, and Oliver Aiku within the stadium that will serve as the backdrop for the upcoming sequel. The second season will consist of 14 episodes and is scheduled to premiere on October 5, 2024.
The proposed title for the sequel is Blue Lock vs U-20 Japan, suggesting that the U-20 arc, which spans 42 chapters, will be the focus of the series. Given that the prequel managed to adapt over 100 chapters in just 24 episodes, adapting 42 chapters in 14 episodes should not be a difficult task, especially considering how well the source material lends itself to animation.
In addition, four additional visuals were unveiled showcasing the Top 11 players of the Blue Lock, who were chosen after the Third Selection Arc, wearing their U-20 jerseys. With the exception of Gagamaru’s goalkeeper jersey, every player is seen donning the same blue-colored jersey.
The entire voice cast from the prequel will be reprising their roles for the upcoming season. Joining the original cast are Satoshi Hino (known for voicing Rengoku in Demon Slayer) as Oliver Aiku, Eiji Mikami as Hiyori Yo, Kakeru Hatano as Nijiro Nanase, and Akihisa Wakayama (famous for his role as Ryuji in Classroom of the Elite) as Shuto Sendou.
Blue Lock Season 2 Synopsis
As of the publishing of this article, an official synopsis for the sequel series has yet to be disclosed. However, the recently announced title of the sequel suggests that Blue Lock season 2 will cover the U-20 arc, in which the top 11 Blue Lock players compete against the U-20 national football team of Japan.
The series follows the journey of Isagi Yoichi, who, after losing the most important match of his career due to his selflessness, joins the Blue Lock program. Through this experience, the main character learns the importance of being selfish and cultivating a strong ego, which could lead him to become one of the top players in Blue Lock and potentially earn a spot on the Japanese national team.
