The ongoing Aether Shroud glitch in Black Ops 6 Zombies has become a significant point of frustration for players, leading many to pivot towards alternative field upgrades. Initially launched in the Cold War Zombies mode, Aether Shroud was designed to render players invisible to enemies when activated. Unfortunately, recent updates have tarnished the experience for users.
After the January 2025 update, reports emerged from the Black Ops 6 community detailing a myriad of issues with Aether Shroud. Many players have reported that triggering the mechanic can cause the game to crash, particularly on the Citadelle des Morts map when employing the Void Sheath augment. Adding to the frustration, some players have noted that the field upgrade fails to activate altogether, prompting many to abandon it entirely.
Issues with Aether Shroud Disrupting Gameplay
A recent incident shared by a Black Ops 6 player revealed the extent of frustration within the community. After reaching round 84 in Zombies mode, the user was ultimately overwhelmed by enemies due to a malfunctioning Aether Shroud. In a follow-up comment, they lamented, “Like how is this bug still not fixed??????”

The general sentiment among players in the comments was one of resignation, with many expressing disbelief over the ongoing operational issues. One user humorously noted, “Bro expected the game to function correctly and [not] bug out LMAO.” Meanwhile, numerous players are now opting for other field upgrades, arguing that Aether Shroud has become too unreliable. “Aether Shroud has felt so buggy for so long that I’ve started just using other Field Upgrades, so I don’t have to worry about it lol,” another user commented.
Among these alternatives, the Frenzied Guard field upgrade is gaining traction. This upgrade draws enemy attention while ensuring that only the player’s armor is damaged in confrontations. One user succinctly summed up the shift: “This is why I use frenzy cuz they don’t wanna fix sh** man.” Others echoed this sentiment, stating, “And that’s why you use frenzy shroud when doing high rounds.”
Despite the varying degrees of advice and jests from the community, the overarching desire remains clear: the Black Ops 6 Zombies community is eagerly awaiting a resolution for the Aether Shroud glitch to restore its effectiveness in gameplay.
