In 2024, the Borderlands series faced a significant setback. The highly anticipated Borderlands movie received overwhelmingly negative reviews and performed poorly at the box office, sparking concerns about the future of the franchise.
Swiftly addressing those concerns, 2K and Gearbox have officially announced what fans have been eagerly anticipating. Borderlands 4 is not just a figment of imagination as it has been in development for several years now.
Despite the limited information that has been disclosed so far, it is not too soon to familiarize yourself with everything we currently know. We have information on the release date and all the early rumors to keep you informed.
Is there a release date?
No, a specific release date for Borderlands 4 has not been announced at this time. However, a release window has been provided.
It has been officially announced that Borderlands 4 will be released in 2025 with a more specific timeline. According to a press release, the game will be launched in Take-Two’s Fiscal Year 2026, which falls after September 28, 2025.
Undoubtedly, since it is still in the early stages, it would be wise to approach this reveal with caution. There is always the possibility of delays, especially considering Take-Two’s plans to launch GTA 6 around the same time in 2025. This could potentially lead to Borderlands 4 being postponed in order to avoid direct competition.
Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford turned to X (previously known as Twitter) shortly after the announcement to provide more insight into the game’s progress. He confirmed that Borderlands 4 has been in the works “for years,”indicating that it may not be too far from release.
We will keep you informed as we approach the launch date and provide any additional information here.
