Bored Valorant Players Disappointed as No Map Pool Changes Come in Patch 8.08

Despite the release of the notes for Valorant patch 8.08, players are disappointed to find that the map pool remains unchanged and unexciting.

The release of the notes for Valorant patch 8.08 on April 30 brought about significant modifications to Viper and Cypher, but the current map pool remained unchanged. Since the start of this Episode, players have been requesting for a rotation of maps, but Riot has not introduced any new ones since January 2024.

Despite including beloved maps such as Acsent and Bind, the current roster also includes three of the most disliked maps – Breeze, Icebox, and Sunset. These maps are known for their emphasis on long-range combat and are often criticized for their unexciting Agent strategies.

Under the announcements for the eighth patch, players are discussing the lack of changes to the map pool almost as much as they are discussing the significant adjustments made to agents.

“Reddit user packy17 asked, “They… they really didn’t rotate any of the maps? Why?”

Professional players are also advocating for a revision of the map pool.

GianFranco “koalanoob”Potestio requested on social media for the map pool to be changed immediately.

According to one X user, this upcoming act is expected to be extremely boring due to the lack of map pool changes and unnecessary agent nerfs.

The character Viper’s changes in this latest patch will have an effect on players’ gameplay in the current map pool. She was previously a must-pick on most of the rotation, but her abilities have been significantly weakened.

Despite numerous complaints from players over the past few months, Riot has remained relatively silent on the issue of the map pool. According to the developer, maps are removed from rotation for internal improvements before being reintroduced. However, this approach of limiting the competitive map pool to just seven means that certain maps have been absent from rotation for more than six months.

The next patch will determine whether or not Riot will be providing Valorant players with a fresh rotation of maps to enjoy.
