The recent Two Blue Vortex time skip in Boruto has garnered positive attention, yet Sarada Uchiha, despite being a central figure, has not emerged as a standout character. As both protagonists and antagonists become increasingly powerful, the lack of attention and characterization for Sarada raises some concerns.
While it is acknowledged that strength isn’t the sole metric for storytelling quality, Boruto primarily revolves around conflicts resolved through battles. Sarada, as a combatant, has found limited opportunities to shine within the narrative. For years, fans have anticipated her potential development, drawing parallels to Megumi Fushiguro from Jujutsu Kaisen due to the “Potential Man/Woman”meme surrounding both characters.

Boruto must prioritize Sarada Uchiha’s development to avoid the “Potential Woman”label
Megumi Fushiguro is often associated with the “Potential Man”meme due to his unrealized promise in both story development and power. Similarly, Sarada Uchiha has been the subject of memes depicting her as a “Potential Woman,”as she has been consistently portrayed as a talented ninja yet struggles to make her mark in the story.
Additionally, Sarada’s significance in the overarching narrative appears to diminish as the series progresses. Currently, her main involvement seems to be her trust in the protagonist, particularly in the context of Eida’s Omnipotence. Yet, she remains detached from the key plot elements surrounding the Shinju clones and has little influence on matters related to her father’s whereabouts, Sasuke Uchiha.
Although designated as one of the main characters, Sarada has had minimal room for development, leading her to lag behind other formidable characters in the series. Fans still hold hope that she will ultimately harness her Uchiha lineage and inherit her mother Sakura’s impressive strength, but presently, she trails behind her peers.
Further concerns about Sarada’s character
It is important to recognize that Sarada’s character development in the Boruto manga has been hindered. Her growth trajectory could have been more organic from the onset, yet she has primarily been relegated to a supporting role compared to the narrative arcs of Boruto and Kawaki.
In contrast to her father from the original series, Sarada has faced considerable sidelining, with her story relevance largely limited to her trust in the protagonist amidst the Omnipotence phenomenon.
There is potential for author Masashi Kishimoto to enhance her character, similar to the routes taken with Himawari Uzumaki and Kurama. Nevertheless, possessing strength alone doesn’t equate to character depth, which has been a struggle for Sarada’s portrayal.
Concluding thoughts
While there remains a glimmer of hope for Sarada Uchiha to evolve within Boruto and realize her capabilities, fans have legitimate concerns regarding her narrative journey, particularly in light of recent developments within the series.
