Fans of the original series have long held the belief that there would come a day when the son would surpass his father. Discussions have been ongoing for months, and it appears that a conclusive answer has finally been reached.
The character’s growth is evident, and in addition to that, Masashi Kishimoto has acknowledged the supposed surpassing. According to the series’ creator, Naruto is now no longer stronger than his son. Although this may have sparked controversy on social media, it was inevitable for the new generation to outshine their predecessors.

Confirmed: Boruto has Surpassed Naruto, According to Masashi Kishimoto
The original creators of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto and Mikio Ikemoto, recently traveled to France where they attended a theatrical festival hosted by CGR called “Night at Konoha”from August 23-24 of this year. During the event, the French publisher of the manga series conducted an interview with the duo where they discussed various aspects of the sequel series. One topic of discussion was the protagonist, whom the publisher compared to his father. Additionally, Kishimoto and Ikemoto shared their thoughts on other elements of the anime and manga series. According to a rough translation of Kishimoto’s comments, he revealed his insights on the character.
“Boruto is more capable of analyzing his environment, his surroundings, he has a more skillful side than Naruto. He’s a classy person.”
This statement emphasizes that Naruto’s son is a more versatile shinobi compared to his father. Unlike Naruto, who often acted impulsively without considering strategies, his son took a more calculated approach in battles. Naruto’s tendency to let his emotions guide his actions often put him in dangerous situations, which could have been avoided if he had taken the time to strategize. This is evident in several instances throughout the original series.
Despite occasional instances where his emotions have gotten the best of him, Boruto’s superior temperament enables him to better assess his circumstances. As a full-fledged Otsutsuki, he possesses incredible strength, as evidenced by his successful defeat of Hidari and his ability to take on the powerful Shinju entities. Additionally, his recent battle against Code, who had his limiters removed, further showcased Boruto’s impressive power as he easily overcame the once formidable opponent. In comparison to Naruto, Boruto’s emotional outbursts are less frequent, allowing him to remain level-headed in intense situations.
It was revealed that the protagonist had created a unique version of Rasengan with a lasting effect that would only end when the Earth stops rotating. Additionally, Sasuke acknowledged Boruto’s mastery of all Uchiha Clan techniques, providing evidence that Naruto has been outdone by his own son. This is further supported by Masashi Kishimoto’s statements made during a recent interview in France.
