In Chapter 10 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Kawaki immediately sprang into action to shield Himawari from Jura, who was determined to capture the Nine-tails fox that had manifested within her. This intense scenario followed Kawaki’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Boruto in Chapter 9.
Despite the intense training everyone underwent during the 4-year timeskip in the sequel series, Kawaki’s display of power has been underwhelming and disappointing. After the timeskip, not only is he unable to defeat Boruto, but he is also easily impaled by the protagonist’s single punch.
As a result, fans have raised concerns about the apparent decline in power of the once unstoppable beast who was able to easily pierce through Boruto when Momoshiki took control. The explanation could be that, during the events of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Kawaki had a strong desire to protect someone – namely, Naruto Uzumaki. However, with the Seventh Hokage now trapped in another dimension, it is unlikely that Kawaki will ever be able to reach his true potential.
Please be advised that the following article may contain spoilers from the Boruto: Two Blue Vortex and Naruto Next Generations manga series, as well as the author’s personal opinions.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex – Discovering the True Potential of Kawaki
Initially portrayed as an outsider, Kawaki quickly becomes one of the central protagonists in the Boruto series when he finds a place in the home of the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. He was originally intended to be the vessel for Isshiki Otsutsuki, who had bestowed him with Karma.
Thankfully, with the aid of Baryon Mode, Naruto was able to defeat Isshiki and prevent Kawaki from transforming into a monster in the future. This event solidified Naruto’s importance in Kawaki’s life and he promised to always protect him.
After Isshiki’s demise, Amado inserted artificial Karma into Kawaki, solely intended for combat. In the midst of the Code assault arc, Kawaki found himself in a fierce confrontation against Boruto, who was under the possession of Momoshiki. It was during this encounter that Kawaki tapped into his full potential, as evidenced by a horn that materialized on his forehead.
Despite being in this form, Kawaki not only overpowered Boruto, but he also successfully pierced a large hole in the protagonist’s torso while protecting Naruto from a possessed Boruto. This was the final instance in which Kawaki awakened his true potential before being confronted with Eida’s Omnipotence. Following this event, Kawaki used his abilities to seal Naruto and Hinata within a timespace, marking the beginning of the sequel series, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
Kawaki in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Being the son of the Seventh Hokage, Kawaki grew into an avenger with a single goal: to eliminate Boruto. The continuation of the series began with Code launching an attack on the Hidden Leaf Village and the return of Boruto. Despite his determination, Kawaki was quickly defeated by Code’s powerful Claw Grimes, revealing his intense obsession with Boruto and his lack of focus on training.
Additionally, in a subsequent chapter, Kawaki encountered Boruto and they engaged in a long-awaited battle. However, the confrontation was short-lived as Boruto skillfully dodged Kawaki’s strikes and delivered a swift punch to his stomach, taunting him for not using his time during the timeskip wisely.
In chapter 10 of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, Kawaki hurries to shield Himawari, but as depicted in Boruto Naruto Next Generations, he only unleashes his full potential when he is defending a loved one.
Despite being safe inside a timespace, the only person who could potentially protect Naruto Uzumaki is none other than Kawaki. While fans may have predicted that the next chapter would reveal Kawaki’s true power, it is unlikely that he would risk his safety to defend anyone other than Naruto.
