With the release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 14, the manga presents Boruto’s intense interrogation as Konoha attempts to uncover the motives behind his actions in the death of the Seventh Hokage. In parallel, the Divine Trees are completing the harvest of the fifth Thorn Soul Bulb to manifest the Shinki Shinju “Ryu.”

The preceding chapter highlighted Boruto’s initial encounter with Kashin Koji, wherein the manga introduced the cyborg’s newly developed Shinjutsu ability known as Prescience. This unique power allowed Koji to guide Boruto in mastering several new jutsu techniques. Ultimately, the chapter concluded with Konohamaru apprehending Boruto.

Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 14, titled ‘Duty,’ kicks off with Boruto awakening in an interrogation room, where Konohamaru informs him about the sealing jutsu cuffs placed on him. Regardless of any tricks Boruto might attempt, they would be in vain. Thus, he complied but first inquired about the status of his allies and enemies. While some casualties occurred, the targets Sarada, Himawari, and the Ino-Shika-Cho team were reportedly safe, while the enemies had retreated from the village.

Meanwhile, Sakura Haruno was seen healing Inojin, while Eida, Daemon, and Kawaki pondered the implications should Boruto reveal the truths surrounding Omnipotence to everyone.

During the interrogation, Boruto disclosed all he knew about the Shinju, describing them as Divine Trees that had gained self-awareness and were targeting individuals to acquire knowledge. He noted that Hidari’s base model was Sasuke Uchiha and Matsuri’s was, fittingly, Matsuri. Notably, Boruto also warned Konohamaru that Matsuri was pursuing him. Jura, however, appeared to be unique and was not modeled after anyone but was instead a manifestation of the Ten Tails itself.

Boruto asserted that defeating the Divine Trees would halt the planet’s imminent danger. Nevertheless, Konohamaru required a credible information source to validate Boruto’s claims, but Boruto refrained from revealing this to protect Kashin Koji.

This refusal did not sit well with the Konoha elders, who pressed Boruto for clarification regarding his alleged killing of Naruto Uzumaki. In his defense, Boruto insisted that both the Seventh Hokage and his wife were alive and safely relocated. It was at this point that Ibiki made his approach, eager to confront Boruto following the news of Naruto’s death.

Amidst his turmoil and questioning of his own memories, Shikamaru reached out to Ino Yamanaka for assistance, but she was unable to comply. Consequently, Shikamaru turned to Mitsuki for help, suggesting to Konohamaru and Ibiki that they use Mitsuki’s poison to extract information from Boruto. Although Konohamaru hesitated due to Mitsuki’s temperament, the Hokage overruled his objections.

Shortly after, Mitsuki entered the interrogation room following a brief conversation with Shikamaru. As anticipated by Konohamaru, Mitsuki attacked Boruto, using his snakes to unlock Boruto’s cuffs and freeing him. Additionally, Mitsuki informed Boruto about his belongings’ location. Seizing the opportunity, Boruto made a hasty escape, telling the Konoha shinobi that he did not perceive them as foes. Shortly thereafter, Boruto equipped himself and exited the village.

Konohamaru suspected Mitsuki’s complicity in Boruto’s escape, but only he, Ibiki, and Shikamaru possessed the security code for the cuffs. It was subsequently revealed that Shikamaru had proactively given the code to Mitsuki prior to his entrance into the room.

Later, when Shikamaru Nara was in the Hokage’s office, Sarada Uchiha and Sumire Kakei rushed in to question him about Boruto’s interrogation. In response, Shikamaru informed them that Boruto had fled the village.

At that moment, Shikamaru received a transmission from Kankuro, reporting that the Hidden Sand Village had been attacked, with Kazekage Gaara and his adopted son Shinki both defeated. Although they were alive, Shinki had transformed into a tree. Kankuro then called for Konoha’s assistance. Meanwhile, the fifth Shinju finally arose, named “Ryu,”confirming that Ryu’s base model was none other than Shinki.
