In chapter 13 of Boruto, a flashback reveals that Boruto once grabbed a toad. During this moment, Kashin Koji performs a reverse summoning, summoning Boruto to have an extensive conversation. This is when we are given a hint about the existence of a multiverse.

Kashin Koji possesses an ability known as “Ten Directions”that allows him to peer into potential futures before they occur. Utilizing this ability, Koji informed Boruto that there are alternate timelines where events have unfolded differently.

He elaborates on a specific timeline in which Naruto was unable to defeat Isshiki, resulting in Isshiki’s reincarnation into Kawaki’s body and the subsequent destruction of the world.

In a different reality, Naruto and Hinata were imprisoned, while Boruto and Sarada met their end at the hands of Kawaki. Subsequently, Code took down Kawaki himself.

He describes the occurrence of specific crucial events that led to the creation of an alternate future timeline. This indicates that they have faced numerous challenging situations, but one pivotal event has altered their path, resulting in a more favorable present.

A clear illustration of this is when Boruto was on the brink of death in a particular situation, but Sarada’s timely awakening of the Mangekyo Sharingan intervened and saved him. This created a new timeline in which Boruto survived, diverging from the previous timeline where he perished.

Upon witnessing Sarada being struck by Jura, Himawari quickly awakens and uses her healing abilities to help her. Meanwhile, Sumire hurries over to Boruto’s side. As Kawaki attempts to grab Boruto’s toad, it suddenly vanishes from his grasp.

The scene shifts to the Shinju dimension, where Jura inserts the thorn soul bulb (which he had taken from Boruto in the previous chapter) into the claw mark cube. It becomes apparent that the Shinju tree has resurrected Hidari (whom Boruto had previously defeated), and all four Shinju are now gathered together.

Summary

We are able to witness Boruto’s first encounters with Kashin Koji, who explains to him the existence of Boruto, Sarada, Kawaki, and all the Shinjus in multiple timelines. This is a result of the branching of multiple futures.
