Despite Boruto and Himawari Uzumaki’s shining popularity, some characters have been neglected in terms of growth. Among them is Kawaki, who has been deemed underwhelming since the release of the Two Blue Vortex manga and has been placed on the fraud watch list by fans.
This article contains major spoilers from the manga chapters, so be warned.
Understanding the Controversy Surrounding Kawaki’s Alleged Fraud in Boruto: Two Blue Vortex
Through the years, the anime and manga community has developed specific phrases that are exclusive to this medium. Among these, the term “fraud”has grown in popularity and is often utilized by fans to express a character’s vulnerability, especially if the series portrays said character as incredibly powerful.
Readers familiar with the Boruto series are aware that Kawaki has possessed a natural talent for combat and mastering ninjutsu. As the story unfolded, he continued to develop his skills and eventually reached the level of a fully-fledged Otsutsuki, much like the main character. Due to his impressive abilities, he was consistently a formidable opponent, and fans anticipated a significant increase in his power after the time skip.
Despite Boruto’s return with increased strength, Mitsuki also showed significant growth as a fighter, while Himawari became a Jinchuriki. Fans were expecting Kawaki to have also made great strides in his abilities. However, he was quickly defeated by Jura with just one attack, and even Mitsuki was able to catch him off guard and incapacitate him in order to pursue Boruto.
Despite the intense buildup and Kawaki’s constant desire to track down Boruto in the latest chapter of Boruto Two Blue Vortex, the final blow came during their interaction in the story. Despite expectations, Kawaki was not able to keep up with Boruto and the brief fight was one-sided. It was clear that Boruto was overwhelmingly stronger than his opponent.
Despite Kawaki summoning the Black Receiver rods to attack Boruto, the latter effortlessly dodged the assault. In an effort to gain the upper hand, Kawaki mutated his arm and attempted to punch his opponent. However, his attack was easily telegraphed and Boruto quickly countered with a punch to the gut. The blow nearly incapacitated Kawaki, and Boruto even took the opportunity to berate him in front of Delta.
Boruto was taken aback by Kawaki’s lack of power and skills, prompting him to question if the latter had even trained during those years. Kawaki has consistently faced defeat and humiliation in all his attempts at fighting, leading fans to believe that he belongs on the “fraud watchlist.”
