Boruto’s Otsutsuki Lineage
The Boruto storyline has placed great emphasis on the importance of the Otsutsuki clan and their vessels. While the concept of the Otsutsuki inhabiting vessels was first introduced in the sequel series, the groundwork for Naruto’s son to become the ideal vessel for Momoshiki Otsutsuki was established in the original Naruto series.
The final portion of the Naruto series focused on uncovering the origins of the shinobi. It was revealed that they were descended from Hagoromo, whose two children, Asura and Indra, created the Senju and Uchiha clans respectively. The Hyuuga clan, on the other hand, was founded by the descendants of Hamura. Additionally, the Uzumaki clan was discovered to be a branch of Asura’s lineage along with the Senju clan.
After it was discovered, it was revealed that Naruto was one of the few remaining members of the Uzumaki clan and also the reincarnation of Asura. As a result, Naruto’s descendants, such as Boruto, inherited chakra that could be traced back to Hagoromo through Naruto’s lineage. Additionally, Hinata, who was blessed with Hamura’s chakra in “The Last”movie, passed down traces of Hamura’s chakra to Naruto.
Despite the significant increase in power levels shown in Naruto’s successor series, it should not be overlooked that Naruto’s son has also inherited Tailed Beast Chakra from his father. This is evident from the whiskers present on both Naruto and his son, Himawari.
During Hagoromo’s era, the chakra of the tailed beasts was originally a part of the Ten Tails. The Ten Tails serves as a source of evolution for the Otsutsuki, with clan members consuming chakra fruit to increase their power.
This indicates that Boruto possesses chakra and genetic traits more resembling an Otsutsuki than any other character in the series. As Naruto’s son, he is the human with the greatest similarity to an Otsutsuki, which explains the emphasis on his potential as a vessel for them. This also strengthens the idea that the concept of Naruto’s son becoming an Otsutsuki vessel was planned since the Naruto series.
Final thoughts
The reasoning and specifications for the Otsutsuki possession have not yet been disclosed. However, it is possible that they will be revealed in future chapters, considering the current focus on the Ten-Tails and Otsutsuki in the plot.
