Boruto’s Eye: A Healing Thanks to Momoshiki and Its Lack of Use

Boruto’s Eye: A Healing Thanks to Momoshiki and Its Lack of Use

The initial teaser for the Boruto series featured a battle between Boruto and Kawaki, during which Boruto appeared to activate a never-before-seen dojutsu. Although the manga later revealed that Boruto had lost his right eye in an attack by Kawaki, the fact that he avoids opening it has sparked speculation among fans about his true motives.

Despite the lack of mention about the eye in the manga, there is a possibility that chapter 13 of the Blue Vortex manga will shed light on the protagonist’s situation. This is particularly likely since the protagonist was rendered unable to act by Jura in the previous chapter.

Please be aware that this article includes spoilers for the Boruto series.

Boruto’s Suppression of Momoshiki Through Non-Use of His Right Eye

The main character suffered the loss of his right eye at the hands of Kawaki in chapter 78 of the manga. Although this eye was initially shown to be the “special eye”in the first Kawaki vs. Boruto teaser before the series was published, fans have observed that Naruto’s son never seems to utilize his eye after the time jump and keeps it intentionally shut.

Despite the fact that his injured eye may still be non-functional and closed, it is important to acknowledge that Momoshiki has already given him the Karma seal and has continuously exerted his own power onto Naruto’s son. It is plausible that Momoshiki may have healed Boruto’s previously injured eye as he plans to eventually possess the main character’s body.

It has already been established that Momoshiki is highly intelligent and cunning, suggesting that he may have been capable of healing his vessel’s eye without closing off the pathway to spy through it.

Although it has not been explicitly mentioned, there is a parallel between the experiences of Kurama and Naruto, as both shared sensory abilities such as sight and hearing due to Naruto’s role as Kurama’s vessel. However, while Kurama did not have any malicious intentions, Momoshiki’s situation is quite distinct. By gaining knowledge about the world around him while residing within the protagonist, he would only become more powerful.

It is likely that Naruto’s son is avoiding using Momoshiki’s powers, considering that Momoshiki was able to fully possess the protagonist and cause harm to Sasuke and their friends in the past.

It is likely that the protagonist is conscious of the danger of Momoshiki obtaining knowledge about the world and is consequently refraining from using his right eye to blind him. This could also clarify the symbols that the protagonist activates when utilizing his unique eye during the teaser battle against Kawaki.

Final Thoughts

Despite the initial speculation that the protagonist’s closed eye was due to a supposed special eye, it is now believed that the injury itself is the true reason. This theory is supported by the fact that the special eye has not made an appearance in the manga yet. Fans will have to wait until August 20, 2024, when Boruto Two Blue Vortex chapter 13 is released, to find out the fate of the protagonist after his fatal encounter with Jura.
