Boruto’s Karma may have been inspired by the most underrated transformation from Naruto

Karma, a seal bestowed upon a person by Otsutsuki members, holds significant importance in the anime and manga series of Boruto Uzumaki due to its powerful abilities. Acting as a special seal, Karma allows the Otsutsuki members to potentially resurrect within the body they had sealed upon their death.

The seal serves a dual purpose, enabling the Otsutsuki member to revive within a new body and also giving them the ability to alter the genetic code. As a result, the chosen vessel is transformed into a complete Otsutsuki.

There is speculation among fans that the sequel series may have drawn inspiration from a transformation seen in the original Naruto series—Sasuke’s Cursed Seal of Heaven. Let’s explore the similarities and a fan theory that suggests a possible connection between the two.

The possible link between Boruto’s Karma and Sasuke’s Curse Mark of Heaven

There is a major reason why fans believe there could be a connection, as both seals bear a striking visual resemblance. In both instances, the affected individual experiences markings appearing all over their body.

Despite being marked by the Cursed Seal of Heaven, Sasuke’s body was covered in small, squiggly markings. On the other hand, the Uzumaki boy did not have the same markings. However, he also developed line-like markings all over his body, indicating Momoshiki Otsutsuki’s intervention at that moment.

The appearance alone led fans to believe that the sequel series was influenced by the original Naruto series. However, a specific fan theory goes even further in connecting the two.

This fan theory suggests a possible connection between the Cursed Seal of Heaven and the Karma seal in the manga, beyond just being a source of inspiration. During the early stages of the original series, Orochimaru created the Cursed Seal of Heaven with the intention of using Sasuke’s body for his own revival. This was done in pursuit of a powerful vessel, similar to the motivation behind the Otsutsuki clan’s use of the Karma seal.

According to fans, it is possible that Orochimaru’s Cursed Seal of Heaven is an unfinished form of the Karma seal. It is believed that knowledge of the seal may have been transmitted through ancient scrolls. Orochimaru was known for his relentless pursuit of his ambitions and had a talent for obtaining information on forbidden jutsu.

If there was a scroll containing the Karma seal, it is likely that Orochimaru had knowledge of it. Both seals function in a very similar manner and have many visual similarities. As a result, fans speculate that the Karma seal on the Uzumaki boy may have been influenced by or connected to the Cursed Seal of Heaven that was placed on Sasuke.

In the fan-made crossover of Boruto and Solo Leveling, Naruto’s son becomes the Shadow Monarch.

It is becoming evident that Boruto is developing traits similar to those of Eren Yeager, as evidenced by his foresight ability.

Despite the initial predictions of failure, the success of the Boruto manga is even more impressive.

In stunning official artwork, Boruto utilizes Kurama’s complete strength to its full potential.
