Despite the focus on the protagonist’s relationship with Momoshiki Otsutsuki, the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga has yet to show the two Otsutsuki speaking to each other. It is likely that this is due to the protagonist’s attempt to refrain from using his Karma powers, but the reason for this choice has yet to be clarified.
According to fan theories, the main character may be attempting to completely abandon the use of Karma in order to prevent Momoshiki from taking over his body. However, could there be another Otsutsuki connected to the protagonist? Is it possible that Boruto is actually the reincarnation of Shibai Otsutsuki? Although the manga has not hinted at this possibility, if it were to happen, it could greatly impact Momoshiki’s existence.

Possible revision: The Potential Consequences of Shibai Otsutsuki’s Actions on Momoshiki in Boruto
From the moment Shibai Otsutsuki was first depicted in the manga, speculation among fans began to circulate that the Otsutsuki clan must have a connection to the protagonist. This is due to the fact that Boruto’s Otsutsufication resulted in the appearance of a horn that bore a striking resemblance to Shibai Otsutsuki’s horns.
It was unexpected for the protagonist to have a different horn compared to his Otsutsuki counterpart, as traditionally a vessel’s horn is meant to resemble that of their respective Otsutsuki. This was demonstrated by Kawaki, whose Otsutsufication horn was reminiscent of Isshiki Otsutsuki’s. However, the protagonist’s horn did not bear any resemblance to Momoshiki’s, but instead to Shibai’s.
Therefore, unless it was simply a deliberate choice by the creators, the main character is connected to the Otsutsuki who achieved Godhood. While one might question if Boruto is a vessel for two Otsutsukis, that cannot be true as Momoshiki would have already discovered the presence of another Otsutsuki within him by now.
This implies that the protagonist’s relationship with Shibai Otsutsuki may have a unique nature. As fans may recall, the Naruto anime delved into the concept of reincarnation, revealing how Indra was reborn as both Madara Uchiha and Sasuke Uchiha, while Ashura returned as both Hashirama Senju and Naruto Uzumaki. This serves as evidence for the existence of reincarnation within the Naruto universe.
In the same way, it is possible that Shibai Otsutsuki has been reborn as Boruto. As the manga has not yet revealed the mysteries of the Jogan, this potential development may be related to this unique dojutsu.
Despite the lack of information, one may still question this reincarnation. However, it is possible that this reincarnation is connected to Shibai’s ascension to Godhood. It is likely that Shibai had a specific task in mind when he became a God and needed to return to Earth. Therefore, it is probable that he chose to reincarnate as the protagonist and wait until the appropriate time to fulfill his mission.
If the development is confirmed by the manga, it is likely that Shibai Otsutsuki will become active within the protagonist and take control of him in the near future. This could potentially lead to disastrous consequences for Momoshiki, as it is unlikely that an Otsutsuki God would want to coexist with a mortal Otsutsuki. As a result, Boruto’s identity as the reincarnation of Shibai Otsutsuki may bring about the downfall of Momoshiki Otsutsuki.
