Botched Update for Diablo 4 on Steam

Botched Update for Diablo 4 on Steam

The 1.5.2 update for Diablo 4 has caused the Steam version to revert back to a trial version, preventing players from accessing the full game and rendering them unable to play.

Despite the original plan, Blizzard released patch 1.5.2 for all Diablo 4 players on Tuesday, September 3rd. Unfortunately, an unforeseen error has prevented PC players on Steam from fully enjoying the game.

After downloading and installing the September 3 patch, Steam users were soon surprised to discover that their build had reverted back to a trial version.

Due to this, numerous players visited the official Diablo 4 Forums, where one individual expressed, “Despite purchasing the game, the recent 1.5.2 patch is indicating that I am in trial mode…”

A different user joined the lengthy thread to add, “I am experiencing the same issue. I updated the game and it occurred.”

The problem is that this glitch is preventing Steam users from accessing the full experience. Instead, they are only able to play a free trial version of Diablo 4, which was originally offered by Blizzard from August 21 to August 27. It appears that the 1.5.2 patch has caused confusion between the two versions of the game.

Luckily, the development team is fully aware of the problem and actively working on a solution. This update was provided by Community Manager Adam Fletcher in a Blizzard Forums post, where he reassured fans of D4 that “our team is currently investigating this issue, which seems to be impacting all Steam users.”

Despite Fletcher’s message, no information has been provided on when Diablo 4 users can anticipate a future update or hotfix to address the problem. Therefore, there is currently no indication of when Steam players will be able to resume playing the main game.

This mistake occurs at a time when fans are already feeling anxious about the future, as there are numerous changes expected in the upcoming Season 6 and 2.0 updates in October. Some players have even shown hesitance towards continuing to play the current Season 5.
