Prior to their debut, BADVILLAIN, the sister group of VIVIZ, has been embroiled in controversy over allegations of plagiarism from BABYMONSTER.
On May 27, Big Planet Made Entertainment (BPM), the agency representing VIVIZ and SHINee Taemin, revealed that their highly anticipated girl group, BADVILLAIN, will be making their debut on June 3 with their first single album, “Overstep.”
On the very same day, Naver NPOP will be airing a debut show titled “NPOP LIMITED EDITION – BADVILLAIN DEBUT.”
Their expected performance will not only showcase unwavering live performances and unrivaled talent, but also provide insight into their special debut preparation process and the behind-the-scenes stories behind their polished and professional appearance.
Additionally, the group consists of 7 members and is set to become BPM’s latest girl group, marking 3 years since its formation.
Prior to its debut, the septet gained the backing of K-pop enthusiasts thanks to its well-known members such as Emma from “Street Woman Fighter,”Chloe Young from the dance crew 1 Million, and HU’E and YunSeo from “My Teenage Girl.”
There is also a lot of anticipation for the new idols INA, Vin and Kelly, as they are rumored to possess unparalleled talent among 5th-generation rookies.
Prior to their official release, BPM had been promoting them through the release of teaser photos and clips on its official social media platforms.
Despite receiving a positive response from its fans, some BABYMONSTER supporters were hesitant about its concept as it bore similarities to the initial teasers of a YG group.

Initially, both teams unveiled a sneak peek image featuring all seven members showcasing their silhouettes against a red backdrop.
Upon the debut of the YG group, fans quickly pointed out the striking similarities in theme, music, and logo to BABYMONSTER, accusing them of plagiarizing the latter.
When BADVILLAIN supporters, many of whom were also fans of VIVIZ, heard about this, they clarified that the idea and concept were not exclusive to BABYMONSTER. They pointed out that BPM had been using the black-red background since VIVIZ’s debut.
I’m sorry to y’all but whoever said bpm copying baemon… Bpm always used black and red to introduce the members… https://t.co/BTfMsw3Myy pic.twitter.com/EoQRXNtsor

this is why kpop is not fun anymore. y’all are so annoying, it’s literally a white background and the members are wearing jeans. did baemon invent jeans or the color white? sit down and stop making everything a competition https://t.co/Hq9foSsLMI

Furthermore, many other artists also employ this type of teaser, particularly when introducing new artists.
Despite the accusation, fans are eagerly anticipating the debut of BADVILLAIN, a term coined to represent the members who have embraced a new persona.
The knowledge of the unparalleled talents possessed by all members is quickly spreading by word of mouth. The pre-released spoiler film and performance video are expected to create a buzz and garner more than 1 million views on YouTube.
