The director of The Brave and the Bold, Andy Muschietti, has addressed the ongoing speculation surrounding the delays of DC’s upcoming Batman films. Contrary to popular belief among fans, the reasons behind these postponements are more straightforward than expected.

Many Batman enthusiasts expressed their disappointment upon learning that Muschietti’s film was delayed, especially as Matt Reeves’ The Batman 2 has now been pushed back to 2027. This ambiguity regarding the timeline and casting has led to rampant speculation surrounding the future of DC’s iconic character.

In a recent interview with Radio TU, Muschietti tackled rumors about Robert Pattinson potentially becoming the definitive DCU Batman. He clarified, “It’s quite obvious that Matt Reeves’ Batman is not part of this new universe.”

Matt Reeves also touched on the subject at the Golden Globes, indicating that the direction of the Batman franchise depends heavily on its narrative coherence, “it really comes down to whether or not it makes sense,” he stated. He added, “I don’t know, we’ll have to see where that goes.”

Muschietti’s emphatic dismissal of the casting rumors suggests that solid decisions have been made. He further elaborated that “DC and Warner Bros. are moving forward with the second part of Reeves’ Batman series, which, as widely reported, is expected to release around 2027.”
