On the 25th, Suga issued a handwritten apology on the official fan community Weverse, starting with the words, “I apologize once again with a heavy heart.” He acknowledged the previous accusation by confessing, “I made a mistake on the evening of August 6 by riding an electric scooter on the sidewalk while under the influence. I take full responsibility for my actions and understand the concern it has caused for those who care about me.”
On the evening of August 6, Suga was apprehended for losing control of an electric scooter while intoxicated on a road in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul at approximately 11 PM. The next day (August 7), he was officially charged by the police for breaking road traffic regulations (driving under the influence). His blood alcohol level at the time was 0.227%.
On the 24th, Suga attended a summons investigation for the charge of “driving an electric scooter under the influence.” Following the investigation, he expressed his sincere apologies, stating, “I deeply regret my actions and the pain and disappointment they have caused. I am reflecting on my actions and apologize once again to those who have shown me love.” Suga did not answer any further inquiries from the press.
In the meantime, Suga has been fulfilling his duties as a public service worker since September 2023 and is expected to complete his service in June 2025.
